Democrats vote down special election for Roland Burris Senate seat

I had bad feelings about Mr. Roland Burris from the getgo.

You know how sometimes you get the feeling that a person is too arrogant for their own good? The man refused to withdraw his name from consideration as a senator when his name was selected by Blagojevich. Fair or not, I feel that he should have recognised that as a distraction in and of itself, and withdrawn his name for consideration, for the good of his party, yes, the good of the people of Illinois.

Sorry, but I am a little frightened of a person who doesn't show a pattern of putting aside his own interests for the good of the whole.

Mr. Burris certainly has not done that. He has stood toe to toe with the leadership in the party, ignoring calls to resign coming from Pat Quinn, the new governor of Illinois.

I will quote the words of a very intelligent young lady I had a crush on many, many years before I married my wife: "In order to be in authority, you also have to be under authority, too." Sen. Burris, unfortunately, has not learned that.

Particularly bothersome to me is that there is evidence that he may have lied under oath about whether or not he had contact with any of the Blago people regarding the vacant Obama seat.

And this person is still demanding his right to serve as a U.S. Senator.

It's good that on November 2, 2010, he will be done. He doesn't have a snowball's chance in h--- of winning that seat.

His son named after him Roland Burris Jr got a job through Gov Blago and not qualifed to get the job, Roland Jr was in a foreclosure on his home at the time he was given this government job,Roland Burris Sr and Rod Blago both knew they was working togeater and they are both courputed as Satan himself.

No the democrats in charge in Springfield don't give a hang nail about the people of their state and they all need run out on a rail after being tarred and feathered and hand a one way ticket.

Until the voters wise up nothing will change because it can't unless the voters wise up every election and run these bums out of office,I hope the people do just that.

Most likely the good people of Illinois do vote for better canidates,I think Chicago over rides them voters voting for the better candidate and get canidates in office that are on the take,better for their city, more hand outs.

I think you hit the nail on the head. You're dealing with the morons who think that a corrupt criminal is still better than an honest republican because he has a "D" next to his name.

Annie,It is never my intend to mislead any one,Democrats who run the Illinois Senate defeated legislation today that would have allowed for a special election,seems clear to me the democrats voted against a special election which is not in the best interest of the people of Illinose because the democrats love having a corupted senator in that seat.

Roland Burris is corrupted as Tony Rezko,Gov Blago both working for the Chicago machine,he is a gulity little corrupted man place in this tainted seanate seat because all his corputed democrat buddies know he will vote to get them even more money,siver and gold stole from the tax payers,a meal a day and a cot is way to good for these corrupted Chicago dog's.

Steps have been in place for some weeks to get Roland Burris out and to boot because the man is not only computed he is actually stupid his son Roland Jr is being investigated for a govenment position he got from Gov Blago and they both stand to face some time behind bars.









SPRINGFIELD---Over Republican objections, Democrats who run the Illinois Senate defeated legislation today that would have allowed for a special election to replace appointed Democratic U.S. Sen. Roland Burris before his term ends in January 2011.

The 3-2 party-line vote at a Senate committee represented another setback for Republicans who have been pushing for a special election since then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich made the appointment weeks after his Dec. 9 arrest on political corruption charges. Among the federal accusations is that Blagojevich tried to sell the very Senate seat he later gave to Burris.
