DETOXIFY...it's a big word...DO YOU? | | | | | | | | | | 1. creationsbyrobin (1806) | 10 months ago | I haven't, but i do believe that it would be helpful. Detoxing/cleansing is a great way to remove toxins that become trapped in our body and do damage. These toxins cause the body to slow down and become sluggish. Cleansing is supposed to help you feel more energetic and allow your body to remove toxins easier, while helping you to absorb more nutrients from your food. I'm considering a cleanse during my next vacation from work.

mechanicNOT62 (1589) | 10 months ago | Agreed, and the body has ways of letting you know that you're doing something wrong, so we should pay attention. I haven't felt my energy as usual for almost a couple of weeks and that's why I thought of looking into it. Hope you get your chance as well.

| | 2. mentalward (4324) | 10 months ago | Oh, man! There is so much junk I'd LOVE to flush out of my body!
Yeah, I'm definitely a health nut. Okay, I don't go overboard, but I do try what and when I can. (I breathe in that junk, too.)
Cranberry juice. If you can tolerate the taste, it's GREAT for detoxifying the body. Green or white tea helps boost the immune system. If you eat TONS of fiber, it'll also help to, umm, how do I put this delicately?... flush out the impurities.
Extract of senna... HOOO WEEE will THAT ever flush you out!!! I had upper and lower GI series and was given that the day before. Man, oh man! You'll be squeeky clean internally after drinking some of that stuff!!!
Of course, good ol' fresh, clean water every day helps tons as well. Oh, apple juice! Good for cleansing the soul... okay, good for cleansing the bowels. Prune juice? I don't recommend that unless you are a sadist. Ewwww. I do like that new stuff that's recently come out though... Plum juice. Basically, the same thing as prune juice only it tastes MUCH better and is not as 'industrially based' as prune juice.
Then, there's something to be said for sweating. As long as you replace your electrolytes, perspiring is another good way to detox your body.
Meditation! "Ohmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" Okay, you don't have to go that far, but personal quiet time helps. Detoxifying our heads is an awesome way to start the whole detox process. I did that this weekend and it's done wonders for me and my newest problems. I feel stronger and more capable of tackling these things head-on, beginning with eating right and learning about natural herbs that can help.
I'm becoming quite an expert on health lately. If you have any specific questions, maybe I can help.

mechanicNOT62 (1589) | 10 months ago | Never been able to stand cranberry juice, my bad! And I constantly have to insist on vegetables and salads, I don't know why but my wife doesn't always think of that. I know fiber and roughage (sp?) is necessary to keep the intestines clean. I'm not familiar with that extract of senna, but I will look into that and the plum juice too. Sweating...what's that? I used to feel much healthier when I did sweat a lot but it hasn't been easy working up a sweat for quite some time. I'll put you first on my list to check into about these things. But I haven't had enough time to make quiet for quite a while either, THAT may be what's messing me up the worst. Thanks, mental.

| | | 3. nancysoffice (52) | 10 months ago | Well, I use the 3 Ballerina Dieters Tea, which you can buy at a produce store. It works like a laxative, but it cleanse you out completely.
Before taking the tea make sure you are home for the whole day and after few hours you may feel a little cramp, but don't worry it's doing the job.
I try to take it at least once or twice a month.

mechanicNOT62 (1589) | 10 months ago | I'll check it out but I've never been a friend of teas. My wife made me an orange tea last night because I felt bloated and guess what! I had bad dreams and woke up about three times which is unusual for me. Bad night! Bummer.

mechanicNOT62 (1589) | 10 months ago | Sweetie, it will be one cold day in hades when I go a whole day without eating, on purpose. Not that I haven't, but I'm not planning it any time soon. Water, that most wodnerful of all elixirs does not like me. It seems I have a hyper-acidic stomach or something, and water makes me feel badly. Weird, huh? About the beer...it's not like I drink enough to make much difference, it's more like I love the taste, but I know that with time it also affects the system. By the way, congratulations on kiccking the habit, that alone should be a great help to staying clean

ClassyCat (694) | 10 months ago | My daighter put me on to a health/detox site at www.curezone.com There ae 100s of messages there on all subjects concerning detox, health problems, etc.
My favorite forum is "Ask Dr. Sutter." He has a cd that you can purchase that is supposed to be very helpful, on detoxing.
You must be very careful with some of this info, because there are right and wrong ways to do these things.
Dr. Sutter says there are 3 cleanses that need to be done in a specific order: 1. Bowel cleanse 2. Parasite cleanse and 3. Liver cleanse
A bowel cleanse should not be harsh on the body.
My daughter did one, as did a co-worker that she told about curezone, and they both worked while doing it. She told me that the main thing you have to do is drink a LOT of water while doing it, to avoid constipation, and I think there's an 800 # you can call if you have problems too.
She (my daughter) - had pain and problems in her upper abdomen. She had to go in for a test where she was sedated, and the dr. ran a scope down into her gallbladder. He told her it'll have to come out.
She went to curezone and read and read and asked questions and did a gallbladder flush. That was almost a year ago. She lost a little weight, feels better, and still has her gallbladder, and no more problems.
If you can't find Dr. Sutter's forum, go to Google and type in curezone ask dr. sutter and you'll find his forum that way.
Hope this helps some. I'm getting ready to start some of the cleanses/detoxes the end of this month or next for sure.

mechanicNOT62 (1589) | 10 months ago | THANK YOU VERY MUCH LADIES! Yes, I was thinking also about what I've heard from Dr Oz, and of course Dawn, I've considered that naturopath as well, it's just so hard for some of us guys to get to ANY doctor!!! Isn't that weird? Anyway, ClassyCat, I had heard about those different cleansings but I never considered the parasite cleanse, hmmmmm... All the same, I appreciate your recomendation because I like those types of sites, and I will certainly look into it. So thank you, ladies!

| | 6. mimico (3257) | 10 months ago | The only detox I do is when I poop haha. How is it done in the hospital? Can I just check in and ask to be detoxified for a day? Will they hook me up on an IV? Or is it more invasive than that? I think some diets can be detoxifying. Like if you go on a liquid or soup diet it should work. I've never tried it though I'm afraid I'll weaken.

mechanicNOT62 (1589) | 10 months ago | Let me tell you, it's no joke! I would even like to connect with a hyperbaric chamber, which is a process for enriching the oxygen content of the blood! I'm really serious about that, especially since I have made certain changes in my life that have caused me to slow down significantly as far as physical activities go. When a doctor wants to clean you out they prescribe some junk you drink, some times a gallon or maybe even two, which tastes bad enough to make you sick, but you do it and believe me, it will do the job. The reason why I went to the hospital is because he thought I had a bleeding ulcer, but thank God I didn't. The cleansing they did made me feel great for years, and yes, an effective cleansing can weaken you a bit, but only for a short time.
