Theatre, will it ever go out of date?  |

 I used to go to the theatre regularly, whether it was a comedy or musical, whatever, I really enjoyed it every time. And somehow I just neglected it for a while, I don't really know the reason why, the theatre and me became strangers. Until two days ago when I rediscovered my love for the theatre. I was out with a friend of mine and there was a play "Elling", Norwegian author; wonderful actours, great audience, two and half hours seemed like two and half minutes.
I just can't wait to go again.

1.  cynicalandoutspoken (2314) | 10 months ago |  I went to the theater for the first time at the beginning of February to see Avenue Q. A very raunchy comedy/musical. It was HILARIOUS!
There have always been things I wanted to see like...Rent, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, etc, just never thought it would be worth seeing any place other than Broadway. I was wrong. Now I am watching the Hershey Theater list to see what else is coming up that I can force my husband to go to.

I don't go to the theatre that often, only if someone recommends a play or on the spur of the moment when I fancy a change from the norm.
I haven't been this year yet, but last year I did go to see a one woman show by some Scottish actress. I can't remember the name of the play nor her, but it was very good. Cheap, but good! I have my eye on a play by Chekhov called The Cherry Orchard, which is doing the rounds right now. I wondered what happened to him after he left Star Trek, and now I know.
Have you seen The Cherry Orchard? If you recommend seeing it, I will definitely go.

| 5. pyewacket (11672) | 10 months ago |  Gosh I haven't been to the theatre in decades, but growing up as a girl it was a family event...not just plays but going to ballet and opera as well. There's nothing that beats that "live" performance and excitement that's present in theatre performances.
Like I said haven't been to the theatre in decades...way too expensive now

Typically the theatre draws in a much older crowd--and I certainly hope that crowd never goes away. And I also think it depends on the style of the play/musical. If it's a disney production it's obviously going to bring in a family audience.
