Jimmy Boyd died of cancer at a hospital in Santa Monica. He was 70.

Boyd was 13 when he recorded that song. It shot to No. 1 in 1952 and sold two million copies within 10 weeks.

He also collaborated with Rosemary Clooney on the song "Dennis the Menace," and he did several duets with Frankie Laine.

Boyd was also an actor, appearing on the sitcoms "Bachelor Father" and "Date With The Angels."

In 1960 Boyd married actress Yvonne Craig, who later became Batgirl on the television series "Batman." Their marriage lasted two years."
