A Step In The Right Direction...

I'd like to know what brainless monkey offered employment contracts that provided bonuses with no performance requirements. A bonus is an incentive..at least it should be...not automatic even if you run the business into the ground. Someone on the news said that these executives could sue for the bonuses. Let em....after they're fired.

This is the first time I have agreed 100% with Obama. It is an outrage that our tax dollars should reward the very people who brought the company down to have to borrow our money to keep afloat.

I'm fair; I'll give him credit. This should have been done long ago... but not by the government, by the corporations directors. Is there no one with any morals at all any more?

I have to say myklj it is good to see that happening over there -I just wish that they would hurry up and actually set the practise in stone here - the government seem to be trying but not getting very far. They need to be firm and tell them to go fly a kite...in their own time of course, it is about time they did some real work during their working hours! xxx

Nope. No credit and here's why.

Until Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and the rest of the criminals that caused the housing collapse are treated to the same lambasting and even criminal charges, 0bama gets no credit from me. Not to mention 0bama with his trillion dollar pork bills and 9000 earmarks is guilty of the EXACT same thing he's busting on AIG for--irresponsibility and mismanagement.

So no, hypocrisy doesn't impress me in the least.

I'm trying to hold my fingers apart but they keep touching. The dumocrats gave this money to AIG with no strings attached now they want to stop it. This administration is such a frickin joke!

This business is all effed up. Obama might be trying to make himself look good by trying to block huge bonuses, but once the businesses get the bucks, those bucks are theirs to do with what they will.

This whole thing is a sham. If the AVERAGE person were to receive a check for the $18,000. plus that reports indicate it cost each of us there WOULD be progress.

We'd SPEND that money and STIMULATE the economy. We wouldn't reward people for bad performances. What kind of "stimulus" is that?

Put the bucks in OUR hands and let US bring us back to the greatness we once were.

Well do to Obama for broacating this as these people should be rooted out, these people just sits on a**es and do nothing while tax payers working their butt off for peanuts and paying high taxes. I agree with Obama.

Absolutely not. Why is it that people refuse to see through the charade being performed by Obama and the rest of these politicians? Obama signed on to the first bailout bill proposed and set forth by Bush and hasn't done anything since then to stop more bailouts from going through. This includes the bailouts received by AIG. Now this part is my opinion but I believe that Obama knew the whole time that AIG was gonna use some of that money for bonuses. Why do I believe that? The second link shows a list of top recipients in the government for 2008. Barack Obama is second on the list. These companies and organizations don't donate huge sums of money to the politicians because they are feeling generous. It's all a part of the you-scratch-my-back-and-I'll-scratch-yours way of doing things in Washington. These companies donate this money as a way of influencing the politicians for their benefit. These companies get filthy rich throught the help of government. Obama is two-faced. He was more than happy to pay these people back for the money they donated to him, but when the plan started going awry and it was obvious that his support in the public and in Washington for the whole stimulus agenda was quickly going down the drain, he had to turn on them to make himself look better. I'll bet his plan to block anymore bonuses goes nowhere. I could be wrong about that but I still believe it is all window dressing. Until he does a complete about face and proposes all the things that favor a free market economy, such as tax cuts across the board, and do what is necessary to give the power of the government back to the people and reinforces the peoples' rights and freedoms as stated in the Constitution, he will get no credit whatsoever from me.

The American People should now be stepping in an either demanding full repayments of the bailout money without delay, or they should assume ownership of AIG and should be liquidating the company, firing forthwith each and every member of the board of directors and exectutive management.

Sale and recovery of taxpayer monies should then be top priority.

But then...that's just me.
