Your Health Records On Sale Block ~ BEWARE OF THE DEVIL IN THE DETAILS FOLK'S!  

Well, in essence our medical records are already for sale and have been stored by non-medical companies. I know, because one of those companies accidentally sold my husband's information to a criminal (yep, it was as easy as picking up a phone, pretending to be a company, and paying for the info which was thousands of names and credit and medical histories). Anyhow, a year after this happened they were told by a judge to notify those whose data had been compromised, or we still might not know about it. But that's how I know that yes, our health records are up for sale.

The key danger of this legislation is not the sellability of your data but the sell out of the American public. Having a centralized and computerized database is of advantage but is already maintained by insurance companies. It should be accessible by all doctors so they can see what other treatments you received. If you are unconscious in an ER they should not have to guess what other conditions might interact with your treatment. But unfortunately the legislation is broad and eventually some bureaucrat might be put in charge of making life and death decisions based on what the government might think is a prudent course of treatment considering your age and general health record. That should never happen and it's a shame that we are allowing such broad legislation to go through. It's like handing somebody a blank check and hoping that they will not use it to cash in on all the money you have. It's crazy what's going on right now in congress.

This really bothers me! In one aspect EMR's are a good thing, and that is because when you change doctors or see multiple doctors, they already have access to files, so it save time and paper. But the bad is really starting to outnumber the good now! This is scary. I read the whole article, and I recommend that everyone read the whole thing if they haven't, I know some people will probably be like "oh, that won't happen" OR will act like the things in it are "good" somehow. Honestly, nothing I read about this is good. The government has NO right dictating what treatments a doctor can use, if they can, they should be required to have a medical degree, and 98% of the government we currently have is too dumb to have a M.D. This is just dangerous! I mean, even if you had it completely controlled by a panel of the doctors who in congress and or senate, it's still a horrible idea. When my dad heard about this, he basically said that it means that if they had things their way that my mom might not have been able to get the internal pacemaker/defibrillator that she got a few weeks ago--that in the case of a serious problem, her likelihood of survival if something happens, she would have a 95% chance of living through it long enough to get to a hospital for medical attention, because the pacemaker keeps her heart beating normal. Just the thought of the government being able to stop people from getting certain treatments sickens me. It seems possible that they could easily be like, well, you are too old or too sick to get a life saving/prolonging treatment. Then again, we have seen plenty to show that a big portion of our current government has no respect for the American people or human life in general. These days it seems like they think all we are is part of the problem when it comes to medical costs and the environment.

I feel so angry that people voted Obama in. Why can't we divide the country in half? Let those who voted for Obama suffer with his policies and let the rest of us choose someone else. Why should be suffer when we did not vote for him.
