i'm getting so tired of hearing this. from the moment my daughter comes home from school she is talking and never stops. i know this sounds auful to say but i'll spend a bit of time with her but then i cook supper and i can't get any peace. all i hear is play with me play with me. i have to get lunches ready for the next day and all i hear is play with me. she's 5 and i think needs to learn to play alone once in a while. i'm so tired of always having to entertain her. i can't get one second to get things done in the house with out having to basically yell at her to leave me alone a minute.

do you go through this and what can you suggest to get it through to her that i have things in the house that also need to be done and i can't play with her every second of every day

Oh yes! Very common! but that doesn't make it any easier.
Something that worked for me, when my first child was 5, and I also had a 1 year old a t the time, was to include her in the things I was doing, whenever possible., she would feel like I was playing with her. Let her set the table, count the forks, even make place cards. That is all they really want, is our attention....at that age, they still often equate attention with love, and they don't really differentiate between quality and quantity.
You could think about getting a mother's helper, someone to hang out with her while you get things done. also, it is important to teach independent play also, however keep in mind that this is completely beyond the grasp of many kids.

no, this doesn’t sound awful, it sounds just like my son and he is 9yrs old! So count yourself lucky…
my son is a complete chatterbox and can never keep himself occupied with anything alone. He always needs somebody by his side, to share with him everything. I am really at my wit’s ends to deal with him. Most of the time I just snap at him and then I feel sorry and try and make up but this is not doing us any good. I sometimes find it abnormal that a boy his age cannot keep himself occupied
