One-legged seagull  email this discussion to a friend?

I was at the river earlier feeding the swans and ducks when I saw a seagull on the wall. I threw some wholegrain bread in his direction but I don't think he noticed. He flew around a bit and then returned to the wall. I then noticed he was hopping and only had one leg. I felt sorry for the little guy and I couldn't help wondering what happened to him. I would have liked to have asked him how he lost his leg. More importantly I would have liked to have known how life was treating him and if he was having any trouble getting food with just one leg.

This seagull seemed like an interesting bird. I tried to take his picture but he didn't stay on the wall for very long (I guess it was easier for him to fly than to stand). Have you ever seen a bird or an animal that you wished you could communicate with and find out what their life was like?

we have a one legged swan on the pool by us he got his leg trapped in a fishing line left by a careless fisherman and had to have it amputated, he copes realy well concidering, i think animals adapt to things like this a lot better than us humans.

there has been many a time i wished an animal could talk to me and tell me how it was feeling

That's sad about the poor swan. sad I hate when careless people leave fishing lines around. I once saw a swan with a line in his bill which then got caught in another swans leg. A third swan swam between the two of them and nearly had his neck chopped off. Three swans could have been killed all because some careless idiot left a fishing line in the river. Thankfully they all managed to free themselves before anything terrible happened. I've seen things like this happen on more than one occasion. It's gotten to the point where I hate to see people at the river with fishing rods. I'm glad the swan where you live has adapted to life with just one leg.
