The Power Of Prayer |
|
millions if not billions of people, from different faiths, all over the world pray every day.
that's millions of of voices being lifted in prayer to god.
some people pray for things for themselves, but i'm sure the vast majority of people pray for selfless things for the good of all mankind.
World Peace the end to wars, and the end of the hatred that man shows to each other. an end to all the violence being committed all over The Earth.
An End To Poverty and World Hunger
Cures For The Sick, The Ill, And The Dying, healing for the injured, freedom from pain for the suffering.
wars continually ravage the planet EVERYDAY!!!
people kill each other because they don't like the way others look or don't like the way others think!!!
innocent people are murdered by the thousands!!!
entire nations hold a deep HATRED for other nations or religions!!!
millions of men, women and children go to bed starving every day!!!
thousands and thousands people suffer agonizing pain and suffering brought on my debilitating illnesses!!!
millions die horrible deaths EVERYDAY from sickness and disease!!!
economic crisis continues to grow worse and worse everyday!!!
millions of people can not even afford the basic necessities of life!!!
un-employment is at an all time high!!!
good job god.............thanks for listening.
do you ever look for something, someplace, and even though you KNOW it's not there, you continue to look in the same place anyways???

| kimandjoe (55) | 9 months ago | God listens sconi...he does and always sees the abonation man has made of himself..he does listen but you know god knew that this was going to happen, that's why jesus died for our sins...so that we could ask for forgiveness But god could just reach in and stop all this at any moment..but that's not how he intended things to go he made man to choose thier own path..own fate...he created us to test us, so that we may live our lives for him..but we still were created to choose for ourselves...that's why he doesnt just come in and stop all the bad...but god listens, and he loves you..even though he doesnt talk back...if you are passionate through god you will hear him... "When you truly want to find me, with all your heart, then you shall hear me" Bless you

mathss1 (777) | 9 months ago | True kim I agree
| |
|
|
sconibear (2562) | 9 months ago | oh boy..........hi kimandjoe........how are you this evening???
i don't understand, millions of people pray for these things to get better but they only get worse. so why do people claim that god answers prayers when in reality god doesn't do anything about the things people are praying for???
it's kinda like talking to a brick wall isn't it???
| |
|
|
| kimandjoe (55) | 9 months ago | Im good, how are you? Well see that's what i was saying millions pray for this to end.. but god made us to make our own chioces like adam and eve, god said dont eat the forbidden fruit, but they were tempted, and made thier own choice...so then it went from there.. But he made us to have our own choices...we choose our own fate, and what happens...so yeah god could swoop down ans stop it all, but it was us who started the trouble in the first place...the ppl who want it to stop pray of course, and i do believe god listens/hears our prayers...but he knew that this was how the world would turn out....All I can say is just keep praying and be strong in your faith...you may feel like you talking to a brick wall...but your not he;s listening and he hurts for this too....But he is coming back very soon i believe, to end it all...

|
|
sconibear (2562) | 9 months ago | hmmmmm........so it's like a kitten stuck in a hole and crying, you could pull it out but heck it walked into the hole on it's own, so you just stand there and listen to it cry.
doesn't sound very loving to me........sounds downright cruel.
| |
|
|
| kimandjoe (55) | 9 months ago | Not at all...i guesss you just dont understand...i mean think about it...i know alot of people dont like the violence, and murder and they pray for it to go away, but it was the humans who made that choice to do that, and a kitten is an animal...we are more intelligent than that, we know the outcome of our actionss...that's what im saying...and god knows that we make that choice on our own...we can choose to live loving and peaceful but we dont, and even if god did get rid of everything we asked, we'd just do the same thing again, and again... you see?
| |
|
|
sconibear (2562) | 9 months ago | probably one of the number one things people pray about, is the health of a loved one.
man did not create disease and has no choice in it.
innocent god loving people die everyday from disease.
| |
|
|
deedeehall (682) | 9 months ago | i think that what she is trying to say is that the time that that kitten is stuck and needs god the most that he really is there.this is where faith comes in.that kitten could be in that hole dead instead he is still alive and with a little faith will be out of there in no time. he really does here you buddy hang in there and practice lots of faith it always does work. and i know there is alot of ill people. that is why god gives us knowledge to do research and find cure. he works thru the people to do his works and our faith in him helps to guide us along.god bless you

| chucknoitall (56) | 9 months ago | Sconi, don't forget the most all-encompassing answer to suffering: the Resurrection. It matters not if anyone, or millions or billions die, because the Almighty can bring them back to life without the cause of death. They can be restored to full health, but with the memories of why or how they died, and it would not be loving of God if their loved ones were not there. Remember what Jesus did with Lazarus? That is what God can do with all those who died. Not just bring the dead back to life, full of health, but to bring them back with their loved ones close by, so they can begin where they left off at death. Remember the account of the widow of Nain, in the gospels? She was elderly, her husband had died in the last few years, and now, her only son has died. The funeral procession was wailing with grief, and yet, Jesus walked up and told them to stop. He laid his hand on the bier carrying the dead son, and told his dead body, "I say to you, get up!" The son did, as if he was sleeping, and Jesus gave him back to her. Why did he do it? Would it not have been for her best interests to learn to rely on God at this time, instead of having her son back? Jesus did it to remind them of the hope for the end of suffering.
It was pointless then, as it is now, to bring someone back who had died, when this world is full of disease, violence and crime that can kill the loved one again, so it was done then to remind them, and us today, that there is a hope for the future through God's Kingdom. There is hope. God has given us this, even as it says in Galatians 5:22,23. What is it? It's called Faith. What is faith? Hebrews 11:1 says, "Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities, though not beheld." In other words, faith is the expectation of something that there is no proof of, yet we hope and believe it will be. We hope for a better future for mankind, because we need it. God has given us this hope, and we need only search for it in his word.

2. riyasam (10895) | 9 months ago | sconi, whats gotten into you nowadays!!!my personal experience is that i get great peace when i pray!!!its like i have handed over the reins to a higher power and i cease to worry(p.s this is my beleif and i dont intend to force it on anyone else)
| |
| |
|
|
sconibear (2562) | 9 months ago | that sounds more like meditation. my point is that most people pray to god to handle some problem, but those problems don't get handled, in fact they get worse and worse everyday. so i don't know why people say "power in prayer".........i have yet to see any power in prayer. how many of your prayers have been answered??? i bet the percentage is very small.......if at all.

3. islander7 (3886) | 9 months ago | Well some people are always hopeful although looking in the wrong direction. There is certainly no god out there to hear all these wasted prayers. The real impersonal spirituality lies at the heart of all things and has no ears to listen. Natural evolution, on automatic, favours the fittest or the best adapted. That is the way the natural world works, and of which we are a part.

they're taken from "The Book Of Yogi".......chapter 8: verses 17 through 19.
if you don't know where to find The Book Of Yogi, it's in between "The Book of Smokey" and "The Book Of Winnie"

6. BethsMom24 (817) | 9 months ago | From my understanding Bear: God does hear what we pray for; the answer we get is sometimes no. They say all things happen for a reason and everything happens on God's time. I think what Kim was trying to say is this: as parents we try to do everything we can to keep our children on the straight and narrow but sometimes we know that we have to let them fall on their faces every once in a while so they learn from experience. This is kinda the same thing; God (as Father) knows what is going on, He is not happy about it but knows that it would be in our best interest to not intervene right now. We must learn (again, this is not necessarily how I believe) the consequences of our actions on our own.

sconibear (2562) | 9 months ago | if a parent sat by and did NOTHING while their children suffered, we would call that person a terrible parent.
we are supposedly god's children.
i think god is a terrible parent.............somebody should call CPS.
| |
|
|
TLChimes (1655) | 9 months ago | Sonic Love... CPS does a not great job here what makes you think they would do any better there?
You need to lighten up a bit. Mom's right..... we must learn to fall before we can walk.... But a good parent should be there to kiss the boo boos and make it all better. I'm not sure God has done that for me but others have felt it and it's made them feel better... that's all that matters.
| |
|
|
BethsMom24 (817) | 9 months ago | I should have been a bit more clear. I am not talking about allowing them to make a mistake that could injure them or hurt them for life. I mean those little mistakes that they need to make in order to learn life's little lessons. Obviously, I would not let Beth do something to hurt herself seriously while I stand back and watch.

deedeehall (682) | 9 months ago | hi sconibear i mean no disrespect by this but maybe the reason you feel this way is because you have not found him yet.to me it sounds like you have alittle anger in your heart towards god.did you loose some thing or some one that meant alot to you?did you feel he was not there for you? i dont know what it is but it seems some thing is missing.again this is not said to upset you i feel you are a nice person here and hope you will take this as just a friend stating her opinion.try and have faith and things will come to you. with all my care

9. sreejithsreenivas (8862) | 9 months ago | I believe in the power of prayer and it must be first felt inside of us.If we make a phone call continuously and ringing for a long time and we're wondering if maybe we should just hang up and try again another time. Then a voice answers and simply says, "I'm here. I'm listening to you." Communication has been established!. The power of prayer is the constant renewal of perspective. Prayer opens our eyes. It extends our horizons. It sheds light into the darkness of our fears and our sorrows, our hopes and joys, our shame and our pride. It gives us new ways of seeing life and relationships, of understanding work and the cost of growing.I don't believe that our prayer changes God's mind or improves God's disposition. God will do what God will do.
