18 years yet just another day!

I'm not a recovering alcoholic and have never even used drugs, but wanted to say congrats on being sober for 18 years! That's quite an accomplishment. I'm very proud of you, as I'm sure your family and friends are!

What a great accomplishment this is for you and I applaude you. No I have not ever used any drugs other than prescription, never even thought of trying drugs. I don't drink either. I have had some beers in my life time and a few mixed drinks but that is it and haven't even had any of that in so long I can't even remember when it was that I had a drink. I am proud of you.

Congratulations Grandpa Bob, that is something to be proud of, its good that you've been sober for 18 yrs. I'm not an addict, I thank God that I never tried anything in my whole life. Its good that your still active in your A.A. club, keep doing it..Have a good day

I am not an alcoholic but I did drink a lot when I was younger but I rarely drink anymore. I realized that lifestyle was not for me. I congrat you on 18 years that is a great accomplishment and I think you desreve to be congratulated. I see that this hard for some people to do and 18 years at that is just pure awesome. AA can be a great place to get sober and I hope you another 18 years going strong. take care and happy mylotting for me:)

I just had to stop by to congratulate you, on your amazing achievement. I feel honoured and priviledged to count you as a friend. I don't know if you remember this, but you gave me my very first Best Response here. It was for a response I made to a topic similar to this one of yours.

While I've never been a part of a 12 step program, I know what devastation drug and alcohol abuse can cause. My eldest stepson is/was an alcoholic, and a drug addict. Sadly I have no idea what his situation is currently, because he's cut me out of his life a few years ago, and without good reason. I tried to help him many times, but he ended up actually being a threat to me, so if he's still 'using' it's best he stay out the lives of myself and my daughter. I shared his story with you, back when you gave me that Best Response. I wish he could meet up with somebody like you, to help steer him on the right path.

There aren't a whole lot of people that can say they are celebrating
18 years of being sober. I'm glad you are active in your group. I think
that helps alot in getting through troublesome times. I have drank alcohol
but never did drugs. You have alot to be proud of! I am proud of you too!

It's good to know you can be sober for so many years
Hubby is still trying to quit smoking
he doesn't smoke as much as he used to
but quitting doesn't seem easy to do for now

I'm not an alcoholic, or a drug addict. I've never taken drugs but I like a social drink down the pub. I only do that once a week nowadays though. My son had an alcohol reliancy problem, and it suddenly dawned on him that he didn't want to be that way any longer. He put himself into hospital, and then into rehab, where he's been for nine months now. In another five or six weeks, he expects to be able to leave the centre, and get his own place. I know he can make it, as he visited the family at Christmas and despite us all having a little drink, he declined and drank coffee. I'm proud of him as I'm sure your family are very proud of you, my friend.
