Do You Wear a Steatbelt??? |
|
I saw a story on the news last week where a guy driving too fast hit the median & his SUV rolled 4-5 times front over rear. The driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt & flew out the back window during the wreck. That was one of the scariest videos I've ever seen. It got me thinking. I ALWAYS wear mine & won't crank my car if my passenger doesn't put on theirs. Do you wear a seatbelt when in a moving vehicle or do you just take your chances that nothing will happen???

1. kiss_me2070 (285) | 9 months ago | I always wear a seat-belt when I am in a car. This also includes taxi's when i am ony m way home after a night out. My friends never seem to put their belts on when they are in a taxi but I always do for safety reasons and I comment if they haven't got their belt on. This is also because one of my ex's brothers was in a car accident when he was about 14 years old and he went through the front wind-screen and landed on the road in front of the car. He know has to use a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

LadyMarissa (2729) | 9 months ago | I never wore mine until I was in a wreck & landed in the passenger seat. That showed me how easy it is to be thrown around. After that, I NEVER crank the car until everybody is buckled up!!! My friends argue so I tell them to drive their own car & they can do as they please.

2. p3halliwel2005 (2478) | 9 months ago | Honestly, I rarely put on my seatbelt. I can't breath so well when I have it on so i prefer not to put it on. I know it is dangerous but if it's Gods will for me to die that way then let it be done. I am just not so comfortable wearing it.

LadyMarissa (2729) | 9 months ago | I used that excuse until I was in a wreck & thrown from the driver's seat into the passenger's seat with the console in the middle. My back hurt soooo freakin bad I could barely move. Since then, i don't crank my car until ALL seatbelts are fastened.

4. lilcee (2086) | 9 months ago | I always wear a seat belt and make sure anyone riding with me does also. Not only is it safer that way, but here in Florida, it's the law. If I get stopped for some reason and they see I don't have my seat belt on, I will get a ticket. But I mostly wear it because I feel safer that way.

LadyMarissa (2729) | 9 months ago | Georgia law says front seat riders & children under 4 MUST wear a seatbelt. I still insist my back seat riders put theirs on also. All I need when trying to control a car during a wreck is a passenger coming across the seat & hitting my arm!!!

mummymo (11642) | 9 months ago | It is a proven fact that a backseat passenger not wearing a seatbelt turns into a lethal weapon as they move forward with extreme force into the person in front of them - both are more likely to die that way - I am so surprised that backseat passengers do not have to buckle up sweetheart! xxx

5. tyc415 (4493) | 9 months ago | Before it was a law I confess we did not wear them but have ever since. I still think they can save your life but they can also take your life but I will take my chances of them saving mine if need be.

LadyMarissa (2729) | 9 months ago | My neighbor is a Highway Patrol. He says you have a 95% chance of dying without a seatbelt & a 45% with a seatbelt. That's 50% I don't care to chance.

6. mtdewgurl74 (10354) | 9 months ago | Yes, I do wear a seatbelt, especially in the front seat but at times while sitting in the backseat I do not wear a seatbelt mostly for the reason they most of the times they don't fit. But if they did sure I would wear one everytime I get in a car.

7. dreamweaverjan (1428) | 9 months ago | HI there: I've not wore a seatbelt, since my (MVA) in 1996, when I got hung around the neck with my seatbelt, you know the part that goes up over your shoulder, that's what caused my neck injuries and my back injuries and each year I just get worse and worse and been on Disability since the accident;
I know I should wear them as its the LAW here in Missouri, but I just hate them and I know they can save lives, but they also can kill you too??
So what do we do huh??
I guess if its our time, its our time but I can't stand anything touching my neck not my hair, for sure not any necklaces, nothing, I wear the lightest weight clothing I can find, and to wear a winter coat is just TORTURE...I take it off as soon as I can; It sucks!

LadyMarissa (2729) | 9 months ago | I can understand your reluctance. I take in disabled people who have no family. One of my young ladies was paralyzed from the neck down from not wearing her seatbelt. Her parents said they couldn't take care of her.

8. dragon54u (9761) | 9 months ago | I never did until I had children. For the last 21 years I've always worn my seatbelt and I'm glad I got into the habit. Even now that I'm alone I buckle up. I'm shocked at how many wrecks I hear about here in Ohio where passengers are ejected from the vehicle and I feel so angry--all they had to do was buckle up, take two seconds to secure themselves. I see a lot of vehicles with kids jumping all over the place, too. In Ohio, only the front seat passengers are obligated to use seatbelts, how stupid is that?! Although they did just make a law that children under 4'9" have to be in booster seats so maybe we're making some progress.

LadyMarissa (2729) | 9 months ago | In Georgia, it's front seat only & children under 4 years of age. If you drive a pickup, those in the cab have to buckle up (front seat). While those in the bed don't (back seat). Do you have any idea what happens to anybody in the back when there's a wreck??? Makes me ill!!!

9. tamarafireheart (12625) | 9 months ago | Hi LadyM,
It is against the law here in the UK not to wear seatbelt in a car,so we have to wear it for our own safty, if anyone is caught not wearing a seat belt, they would be heavily fine and would get a endosement on the license, be safe wear a seatbelt when in a car.

10. MarkieSparks7 (295) | 9 months ago | I have been wearing my seatbelt for as long as I can remember. My parents would always make sure I had it on when I was little and we got in the car. It was like if we were going to McDonald's or something I would have to put it on or else I knew we weren't going. Now it's just like complete habit every time I get in a car to just right away buckle it up. Also I don't really feel like flying through the windshield anytime soon.
