How Often Do You Grill? What do you like to make? email this discussion to a friend?

myLot reputation of 96/100. vera5d (2204)   ranked 46 out of 11,199 in cooking9 months ago

Lately we've been grilling lots of tasty foods, everything from hamburgers to steaks and asparagus. We've been using our grill about 3 times a week now instead of cooking inside in the kitchen!

I finally feel like I am good at grilling now with years of practice, experience, and burnt food under my belt. I made the PERFECT filet mignon last week, better than what you'd get at a steak house for $50 (and at a fraction of the cost!), which is really quite impressive - I don't consider myself a very good cook at all. I think I am better at grilling than I am at cooking and baking now!

How about you? How often do you grill? What do you like to make?

I love that the warm weather is getting here. In the warm weather I like to grill on a regular basis. I think grilled foods taste better than food cooked inside anyway. What I like to cook on a grill is hamburger, hot dogs, steak, and Pork chops. Love to make a good sauce to go on them. Grilled food to me is the best food.

It sure is. It would be worth moving somewhere with a warm climate just so you could grill year round:)

I love grilling but unfortunately I live in an apartment and cannot have a barbecue. But I do have friends that have me over for Barbecues quite often. I love chicken, steak, hamburgers, spareribs and baked potatoes. We even grill fish occasionally which is excellent. The weather is just starting to get nice so I'm looking forward to all the barbecues we will be having this summer. Have a great day and happy mylotting.

I used to live in an apartment too - i wanted to go camping just to cook! Potatoes on the grill are good!

Now that it is finally getting a little warmer out I will start barbequing again. I am
going to still wait another two weeks just to make sure we don't get another snow storm,
before I pull it out of the garage and put it on the deck.

Then we pretty much grille almost every day, once we start. I prefer my meat on the
barbeque because it tastes so much better and it seems to keep the meat from being
tough. Must be the way I cook it. hehe

I cook anything from fish to steaks to hamburgers to corn on the cob to potatoes to
onions. Pretty much anything can be grilled. I haven't tried asparagus but it would be
no different than cooking any vegetable. When I cook onions and mushrooms I put it in
tin foil to cook it. Same with fish.

And then I will keep the barbeque out of the garage for as long as I can, till it snows
again in the fall. So we do get a lot of use out of it and it is worth every penny we
paid for it.

Yes, a grill is a worthwhile investment if you use it:) It snowed today and it was pretty cold when I was grilling the other day but I'm hoping tomorrow we can do some more grilling...I'm just so much better at cooking stuff on the grill than I am on the stove!!

I don't grill very often, but the NuWave countertop infrared/convection oven makes the sort of food that I might have grilled turn our very nice and it also bakes and stuff. I like grilled vegetables, except for brussels sprouts and cauliflower which I prefer sauted in butter in a skillet.

That is good you are good at cooking and baking...I do think a lot of it has to do with my stove that is from the 1950's and needs new heating elements but I don't really want to spend the money on replacing them (very hard to find, too) - I know my temperature for the oven is really off so things a lot of times end up raw or burnt unfortunately.

I love to grill! I've grilled hamburgers, turkey burgers, steak, fish, pork chops, chicken, a goose that got in my way, just kidding. I'll grill anything, being a former Boy Scout I need a fire and some dead meat. You'll have to tell me how to do the asparagus, I need help with that one.

myLot reputation of 96/100. vera5d (2204)   ranked 46 out of 11,199 in cooking  9 months ago

Asparagus is super easy, here's a nice step by step for you:

I don't think I would grill a goose though...those feathers might not be too good!

Thanks. I'll give it a shot next time I'm at the market. Duck duck duck goose!

I personally cannot grill. I can cook wonderfully indoors, but grilling I just can't seem to manage. Luckily my guy is a professional when it comes to grilling. We grill year round, about twice a week. No gas grill here, only charcoal. You just don't get the same flavor with a gas grill. We have everything from burgers, brats, hotdogs, chicken, pork chops to even roasts. I LOVE a good pork roast done on the grill. He has a secret seasoning he makes up in the blender and we sprinkle it on all of our meat before cooking.

myLot reputation of 96/100. vera5d (2204)   ranked 46 out of 11,199 in cooking  9 months ago

That is good your guy is a griller. We only use charcoal too. My hubby lights the grill, I usually cook on it though, otherwise he will burn stuff. It takes a lot of practice and learning but after awhile when you start getting good at it it's a lot of fun too!

I have a stove top grill. It has a reversable sidr that is flat and I use that side to do hashbrowns. pancakes and bacon. I usually do chicken and steak on the grill side. I like asparagus but i have never tried to grill it. I usually just but them in the oven. I think I will try to grill some next time.

myLot reputation of 96/100. vera5d (2204)   ranked 46 out of 11,199 in cooking  9 months ago

That sounds like it would be really great for pancakes and the sort. I have an electric griddle I use for that kind of stuff, but would be nice if it was part of the stove.

During the summer we grill atleast every weekend, and often during the week as well on atleast one other day. It's great to not have to heat the house up and clean up is so much easier. Right now it's still to cold outside for me to try and grill anything, but I have hopes that the weather is changing(finallyrolleyes).

Our favorites on the grill are chicken, steaks, burgers, hot dogs, brats, and polish sausage. I think this year I might try doing some kabobs as I really like grilled veggies.

myLot reputation of 96/100. vera5d (2204)   ranked 46 out of 11,199 in cooking  9 months ago

kabobs are great, just make sure you marinate them:) we had snow today which kind of interrupts any grilling plans I had, but I'm hoping later this week to grill some more stuff!
