 How can President Obama say that we are not a Christian Country. With over 80% of the people identifying themselves as Christians. Our country was founded on Christian principals. Almost all our policies show the Christian influence. Who is the first one there with help when a natural disaster strikes? Who showed Christian values after WWII when we rebuild the countries and economies of our friends and enemies? An excellent example is Korea. We worked with the South and Russia and China worked with the North.
It was the Christian Churches that gave us our first Hospitals, Universities and many Secondary Schools. Several of his comments on this trip prove to me that he has no Ideas what this country is all about. He does not understand that it was the Free Market Principals that helped us become the world leader that we are and that he is trying to knock us down from. In any other country in the world he would be just another office worker. Only in America could he have gone as far as he has. That is due to the strong Christian Values - not hate Rev. Wright Values of hate and blame.

Saying so implies that Christianity is somehow recognized in some form or fashion as our country's religion, and it isn't. We are a nation of Christians (as well as other beliefs), but we are not a Christian nation, and that is essentially what he said. Christian establishments in our country does not make our country Christian any more than Jewish establishments make us a Jewish nation.

We beleive in such things as Forgivness, Charity, sangnitity of Life, Compassion, Respect for all people to name a few. What other religion embraces such ideals? I am not a student of religion so I can not answer but when the Tsunami hit mainly Muslum Countries it was the Christian Countries of the World that responded. I beleive that the Muslum countries gave less that $100,000 total to the relief efforts.
If as you suggest we recognized Christianity ast the offical religion then we would not tolorate or allow other beliefs. Yes I believe we are a Christian Nation. | |

It may not mean to you that our nation is officially Christian, but that is what the term implies, and it is that implication Obama was addressing in his speech.
Legally we do not embrace Judeo-Christian values any more than any other religion. At least, we're not supposed to. Having a population that is mostly Christian does not make our country a Christian nation. | |

He is definitely a legend in his own mind, and the things he does and says makes me wonder if he isn't still snorting... because he is sure living in some kind of alternate universe.

He has a Muslim interest in the world and knows how strenuously they object to Christianity, Judiasm and Western values in general, so he is playing up to them, a very dangerous game in these perilous times. It appears he wants to deny the values of our founding fathers, throw out our Constitution and join hands with the whole world against America. Does anyone else see this?
