need help with song that tells story

Folk songs often do. "Barbara Allen" is one my Mom used to sing. I know there are more, but for the life of me, I can't think of a one!

yes a lot of cultures use song/ story as a way ao passing usefull knowledge through to the next generation .. A famous one is Hyawather [ not sure how to spell it] about a red indian girl*

There's a load of songs out there that have a Narrative that could translate well into a story..in fact,there's a bunch that have already made the transition from a Song to a Movie! Those that come to mind, among others,are C.W McCall's "Convoy", Kenny Rogers' "Coward of the County",and Bobbie Gentry's "Ode to Billy Joe"..I could "see" "Hotel California" as a Movie,but it'd be quite short,I think! btw..who sings 100 years? don't think I know this one..

One I like is Josh Groban's "Weeping." It is quite poetic. It may be a bit too metaphoric for direct acting out translation, though. The song was originally done by a South African pop star. It was written about the apartheid in South Africa.

I know there are other ones that are possibly better for the purpose you want, but I just can't think of them right now. If they come to my mind I will be back and let you know.

Another great song is Starwalker by Buffy St. Marie which tells the story of the violations of radioactive dumping on reservation land and the people who died trying to expose the government actions.

Then there is Johnny Cash's The ballad of Ira Hayes which is the story a marine who went to war and what happened upon his return.

Then there is Iron Maidens Run to the Hills which is about the slaughter of the native american indians.
