What's your response to praise??  |

 Hello mylotters,
I find an interesting thing that Americans and Chinese have different ways of responding to praise.
Americans tend to accept a compliment with gratitude.
Chinese, on the other hand, tend to reject the compliment, even when they know they deserve the credit or recognition which has been awarded them. It is considered modest of doing that.
Which do you think is better? If someone praise you face to face, how do you reply??

I do not think its because of the ehtnic they belong to. It depend on the individual by itself. For me I would accept praise with gratitude. Compliments are difficult to get and if there is a compliment I would not take it for granted. For those who take compliments for granted, maybe they are being praised most of the time or maybe they do not know how precious could a compliment be.

(China) I find sometime the praise is not really compliment,and maybe what someone wish you be .so if that,I'll ask myself to do more perfection as he/she praised.

For the longest time, I would tend to, as you put it, reject the compliment, mainly because I myself wouldn't agree with it. Now, I find it easier to accept it for the gesture that it is and move on to something else.

| 7. cuttyrish (2085) | 8 months ago |  when i received a praise, i either smile or thank them for giving me that compliment. however, sometimes if my friends praised me for example, they are saying that i look good, or something.. i just smile or just say stopped joking..lol.. even when its not a joke.. i love to receive praises, but sometimes i am shy when given like for example you are complimented for being well dressed, having a nice look etc.
