Oh, it's natural that it would go through some regional dialect changes over the years (even the Queens english is quite different when you get over to say, Liverpool), and also with the intermingling of other immigrants as well, but I think that there's just too much slang these days. And I'm just as guilty as the next guy for using slang.

My personal choice is the Queens English for the obvious reason that I am english, but I would not expect an american citizen to use it.
English was introduced into america by the english settlers a few hundred years ago, so naturally it has developed in a different direction over such a long period.
My view is the Queens English for english people and American English for americans.
