I think the piano is very difficult to play well, but easy to play simple melodies on. My advice would be to learn the right hand first and learn about tempo, dynamics, etc. using one hand first. Then once you've gotten good at that, learn the notes on the other hand and then you can add them together.

Learning methods and technique won't get you far. You need to establish some rote memory with scales, arpeggios and simple pieces (basically you need practice). Even for me, I need to play through a moderately difficult piece 10-20 times to perfect the technique and that's before considering dynamics and honing the song (discriminating the melody, systematically considering staccato, legato, etc.). It's tedious to learn the piano, but I assure, it's worth every bit of effort in the end.

I don't know how to play the piano. My daughter-in-law does and has played for many years. She is teaching her 14 year old daughter how to play. I went on the search engine and was looking at some of the sites they have and I ran across one that will teach you for free online. It looks like it is pretty good. I am putting the link here for you. Check it out and maybe this is something you would be interested in. http://www.rocketpiano.com/?hop=erncol

It takes a lot of practice, start with simple things like scales and work up from there.
