Do you prefer to have subtitles watching movies? |
|
I do. I like to have it when I cannot hear clear sometimes whatever if it is my native language or just the language I know. I remember it was a good way to learn English when I was little, watching cartoon movies with English subtitles butkinda annoying for somebody that went to watch with me because I asked a lot aoubt what it meant, what that meant.
How about you?

1. sizzle3000 (2574) | 8 months ago | I have to see that I do not like to watch a movie in another language and have to read the subtitles to understand what is being said. I was born and raised in the US and speak only English. I enjoy movies that are English. I find if I have to read the screne to understand what is going on I miss something. Maybe it is because while I am reading the action on the screne is still going on instead of waiting for me to get done reading.
There are times when closed captions are needed. These are the words that come up on the screne for the hearing impaired. My husband's hearing is very bad and he wears two hearing aids and still has problems. Thanks to the closed captions he can watch a movie without turning it way up so that it kills my ear drums. I have gotten used to the closed caption and can just over look the words. However, I have to admitt that I do read the captions on occation when the characters are talking real low or mumble.
There are some people who like foriegn films with the subtitles. I guess these people are fast reader and maybe that is why they like watching a movie this way. There are all sorts of ways to watch movies and television these days.

2. bluishrose (1651) | 8 months ago | Subtitles are helpful specially if the audio isnt clear. Sometimes they pronounce words in a different way and I just read the subtitle to understand them.

3. oldmanhorrorfan (397) | 8 months ago | I do like to watch movies with sub tittles if the sound quality is bad and hard to understand. I have seen some boot leg movies with bad sound quality. Don't really care to watch'em, mess with my eyes too much. I also do watch imported movies that are yet to be dubbed in english. The only time I get annoyed is when the characters are talking super fast and the sub tittles are long but only stay on the screen for a few moments. And then there's when the visual quality is so bad, the sub tittles so small, that it's hard to read'em.

4. feathers26 (866) | 8 months ago | I prefer to have subtitles when watching movies because I can understand better what the movie is all about. And also if I don't understand the language.
