Family Guy has gone too far this time |
|
Never again will I watch Family Guy. Tonight's episode was just too much, when Peter killed the cat. I know his character is an idiot, but animal killing is never appropriate, especially for comedy. This is a new low for Seth McFarlane. I've tried to overlook, too, the bashing of the GOP, and his references to conservatives and Fox News as being like Hitler. This episode also had to do with legalizing pot. I know tomorrow is 4/20, and that's the day potsmokers celebrate pot, and wanting it to be legal. I was just shocked when Peter killed the cat. I thought before the episode of Stewie trying to kill Lois was bad. I just wish I'd said something then, and maybe this episode never would have aired. Oh well. I'm just glad I didn't have a child watching along with me.

2. Anora_Eldorath (2598) | 8 months ago | It's a good thing you don't watch South Park then lol. I happen to like Family Guy but I also am smart enough to know it's not a children's show. It is designed for adults, with adult humor. I don't think Seth is condoning murder of any kind, I think he's making some pretty bold social statements that need to be made, and hopefully those watching Family Guy will pick up on them. I've been involved in a few discussions over in Politics, and the recent stuff going on with the current things in the news, I'm glad for a bit of humor, dark at that, in Peter. My favorite character though is Stewie, and I honestly get such a kick out of him planning little things. I love all of the allusions to other movies such as The Omen, Star Wars, etc. It's wonderful.
Again, I'd never let my children watch it, or South Park.

thezone (1898) | 8 months ago | I would tend to agree with Anora on this one, the show is designed for adults. Is it not the parents responsibility to monitor their child's TV usage?

| tashanda (37) | 8 months ago | totally is the parents responsibility I actually stopped my children from spending nights with their grandma because she would ignore me when I told her that they weren't allowed to watch the show.

3. dragon54u (9461) | 8 months ago | I've never liked that show but I don't like adult cartoons in general. It's a shame a lot of people let their children watch that crap. So I haven't seen the show since my husband left, he loved it and I watched it just to be with him. There's nothing they won't do for laugh and I do believe they are trying to corrupt the country--not just this cartoon but adult cartoons in general.

5. sassy28 (221) | 8 months ago | It is one of the worst shows that I have seen. First time I watched it, had the boys with me. Not really knowing what is was about. After realizing that this is in no way a family related show, we don't watch it. It comes on around 7 at night when kids are watching TV, if the networks want to put it on it needs to be much later at night.

| 6. Zo3000 (13) | 8 months ago | well, i dont support animal killing unless its for my stomach. I have nothing against Family Guy because they've pretty much made fun of every culture, religion, or any other political issues. I think knowing the consequences of watching the show, you have an option to not watch...which you said that you will never watch again. If people are stupid enough to go out and do what they see on TV then they need help regardless of watching Family Guy or any other show. Also parents should be monitoring everything their kids watch. We all know that Family Guy isn't your normal family cartoon show so therefore young kids shouldn't be watching. Some other similar cartoon shows for adults i like are, Boondocks, Simpsons, Beavis and Butthead, and Robot Chicken

7. jellymonty (1399) | 8 months ago | I seriously hate that show.. How one can sit down and watch it is beyond me. I only used to watch because i liked the voice of stewie but then it just got seriously boring and it seems that its more of an insult show rather than an entertainment show. Sad today that all these tv programs have to use profanity just to get their ratings up.. I miss the good old days when TV was suitable for everyone...

This isn't the first time Family Guy has done stuff like this, forget killing cats, what about killing humans? Anyone seen the episode where Stewie shoots the crap out of his mother?
Though it's definitely not meant to be taken seriously, they should tone it down just a bit.

10. brandon22 (151) | 8 months ago | You're entitled to your opinion and I whole-heartedly respect that. I too, am entitled to my opinion; and it is this: I love that show! It is one of my favorites on TV. The show is not for everyone and you certainly don't have to watch if you don't want to; nobody is forcing you. I applaud Seth MacFarlane for pushing the envelope and the censors so much. After the whole "wardrobe malfunction" incident at the super bowl the FCC went crazy and became way too strict. I agree that this show is in no way for children, but that's up to the parents, not the networks or the show creators. They've killed other animals and people on the show, but there were no complaints then. The Family Guy and other shows like it become an easy target for outrage. In closing, I mean no offense to anyone. I'm not trying to demean your opinions in any way. If I did, I apologize.
