 but I can't find a reference about it...
so, here it is.
My mom used to have a condo in Durango Colorado, and I'd go up to visit her generally either going up to help her drive home, but sometimes at the beginning of the trip.
Now, mom has 3 kids, with 3 interests, so with my sister, she'd go camping. With my brother, they'd drive around sightseeing and with me, we'd go to the ruins in the area.
One trip, we went to Canyon de Chelly (said shea). This is a site of Anasazi ruins in a small canyon that is part of the Navaho indian reservation and a Nation Monument. They occupy 2 canyons that run from the beginning that is about 20 feet to 1000 feet at the end of the canyon. When we got there, we drove up one side and stopped at the scenic overlooks, actually starting at the 1000 foot one and working our way down because there was a program at the first one, at 300 feet, with a Ranger.
The 1000 foot overlook looked down on a spire called "spider's rock" that legend says the spider woman gave the Navaho's the knowlege to weave.
When we got down to the last overlook, we still had some time before the program, so I wanted to look out over the valley.
This was also the first overlook that had easy access to the edge, and I wanted too look down.
I am wary of heights, not really terribly afraid of them, but not exactly comfortable with them either.
So, I keep going to the edge. The first edge I looked over, I discovered another layer of rocks about 20 feet down, and I found the trail down to that layer.
Then I started looking out over the edge. Well, I admit, I started pretty far back, but the edge wasn't curved or anything, so I kept inching out and leaning over. Finally, my mom had enough. She called me back.
Well, it was at that point I was finally able to see over the edge. I replied:"Don't worry, Mom, I'd bounce."
She was NOT amused...

If I were your mum, I'll give you what for when you are safley in my reach, you naughty girl, mine you I like heights too and when I was young, I was always falling out the window as there was a water drum just below the window, I used to make a paper boat with a piece of string attached to it and play with the boat in the water and thats when I fall in as I lean over, so from young I wasn't afraid of heights and when I went to Spain with my sister I would get to the very edge of a cliff and my sister is always shouthing at me to stay back, so next time you want to lean over the edge DON'T!!!!!
