Love yesterday vs. Love today : The Little Mermaid  |

|  Okay... I have to do this because the little mermaid Part of Your World song thingie is the avatar for the Love interest.
So... here goes.
Love Yesterday: Ariel changes herself into a human and lives among people to catch the attention of the Prince (or whoever he is)and win his heart before sundown of the third day. Despite the attempts of Ursula to thrwart her efforts, Ariel finds her true love and love triumphs over all.
Love Today: Ariel never makes it ashore. She becomes ensnared with a school of dolphins in Japanese fishing nets, is hauled onboard a fishing trawler and can be found on a shelf at Wal Mart, on aisle 9, the canned meats aisle, in a can of Chicken of the Sea tuna. Why do you think there's a mermaid on the label?

I guess this wasn't as funny on paper (screen) as it seemed in my head. It is about romance and its apparent demise. Love stories from yesterday have these idyllic happy endings that today would not happen.
Like My Fair Lady, the guy singing On the Street Where You Live would be arrested for stalking and Peeping Tom.
Officer and a Gentleman, Richard Gere would be gunned down as he approached Debra Winger's place of employment as a paramilitary terrorist.
Little Mermaid: Ariel doesn't meet up with Prince Eric and win his heart in three days, instead she becomes ensnared in fishing nets and is canned and on the shelf in Wal Mart.

| |  From a book I read as a child, Lancelot kept a nosegay that Guinevere dropped and cherished it, but was always Arthur's loyal friend. Modern interpretations Lance and Gwen hop in bed as soon as they can and bring about the downfall of the kingdom. I am not sure if that is what you were meaning or not, but it is what comes to my mind.

Lance and Jenny do the down and dirty and get caught by Arthur, who either A... pops a cap in Lance and Jenny before turning the gun on himself, or B... all go on Maury Povich together and Lance does the paternity test on Jenny's baby in the episode entitled "Who that is my baby's daddy?" Maury tells Lance, "You are NOT the father of Little Lance Junior," which prompts Lance to say, "Why that fargin corksuckin' lil bench hoe." Apparently Jenny slept with the whole Round Table. | | | |

anyway, yeah i guess you are right in that. but i am sorry, i could not share something similar. i guess i am not that creative in re-creating a story that way. i mean satirically.
