if you saw furniture in the street

well i saw a gorgeous black leather couch out there too, she only threw it out yesterday and it was in awesome condition, so later on tonight i am going to go over and get it, my friend has a van and the couch is like a few hundred yards from here but we do need to transport it because it's too heavy to carry, she said she will cover it for me because it's been raining, the couch looks so new, the one i have is nice but i have done my room in black silver and chrome and my old couch is beige, so that couch will be perfect in my room, i cannot wait to go and get it, if i see anything outside that's worth taking i will definitely go and ask, i love skip hunting....

this is what i did when my grandson got bigger, i know that they are expensive, so i took it and washed it and we got to use it for a few years before he grew out of it, i still have it in my garage and will use it again of someone needs it for their child...it wasn't even dirty, it had been covered with plastic but i still sleaned it before i used it....i love these little finds, especially if i am short on money, it saved me some money by not going out and buying a new one

wow what a lucky find, i love finding stuff like that, i bet they look great in your home, not only did i pick up the fire surround and book shelves, i also got her black leather 3 seater couch which i am picking up later on, she said she will keep it for me, apparrantly, she is having a refurb and is throwing everything out, everything is in excellent condition, the couch is out there but she has covered it up because it's been raining, she also said that if i want anything else i can look through some boxes in her home because she has all kinds of nik naks that she doesn't want, but the couch is one of them big soft leather ones, she's only had it for 2 years, i wanted a black couch because i have just decorated and i was going to get one to match my room, i was considering on dying my seat covers on the couch i have now, but i don't need to now.. ..so i have just saved myself hundreds, so i feel lucky today.

Wow, what a great find! It's like your own personal yard sale where you get first choice at everything. Good for you. Yes I still have the pots and they are lovely. I have two on my balcony and two in my apartment. The ones in the apartment have plants in them and the other two will soon have outdoor plants in them. Enjoy your day!!

oh i am so happy, i can't tell you, i have been saving for a new couch for ages, so now i don't need to save any more and i can use that money on something else i may need, this lady is like an angel, she told me to take what ever i want, she has stuff in her yard too so i am gonna go and look when my friend gets here, he may even take some of it because he's just moved house, so i am excited to see what she has, i will even get her a thankyou card for her kindness

that is so true drannhh, i have also just got me a black leather couch that she threw out, i was going to dye my other couch covers black, but now i don't have to, the couch is in mint condition, i am so happy with it, she said she was just going to throw everything on the dump, so i asked her about the couch and she told me to take it, how lucky am i, it looks new, so i will go over later and get it, then get rid of the dowdy beige thing i have in my room....i am so glad that i had an appt at the doctors today because i would never have seen these items, the fire surround looks great and so do the book shelves, just what i needed....but the couch...oh my, i just love it....i don't have to spend lots of money on a new one now, i got this one for free...how cool is that....lol...

well i think i was destined to have these items alice, i made a last minute call to see my doctor, and the receptionist told me to come right away, so i went over and as i passed this house there was lots of stuff outside, including (wait for it) a black leather 3 seater couch, yep.. ..i got that too, i am going over for it later, the lady said that she has lots of stuff in her home and she was throwing it away so when i go for the couch later on, i will have a look to see what else she has, she is doing a refurb and no longer wants her old stuff, the couch was a pure gem, as you know i have just decorated and the room is black silver and white, the couch i have was gonna get dyed black, but now i don't have to because she gave me her old couch which looks new, she's only had it for 2 years and it looks like a brand spanker, i am so happy with that because i was gonna go out and buy a new black couch....what a lucky find is that...lol...just waiting on my friend to come over with the van, if i see anything else i am deffo gonna take it, it will save me alot of money...

not yet, i am going over to pick up the couch soon, she also has stuff in her yard that she doesn't want so i have first pick, i will get pics taken when i have the couch in here, it's gorgeous, now i can stop saving because i was months away from buying a new one, so i was very lucky to have seen that couch, i am so happy that i went out when i did because at the weekend the council is going to come and take it to the tip....maybe they won't have to now....lol....if i have it my way, i will take the lot, she has boxes of curtains and crockery and other nik naks that she's getting rid of, so maybe i can salvage the surtains and dye them or make them into cushion covers....

put our couch there instead of hers, save you being charged fo ra pick-up!

hahaha great idea, i think the homeless shelter will like mine, even if it';s just in their halls for people to sit on, some take them and give them to people who cannot afford furniture, like people who are starting out and don't have money for furniture, my couch is in good condition but not the right colour for my room....my friend is here now with the van so i will be back later on....

lol, well it is a cozy couch too, that couch i got yesterday is the comfiest couch i have ever had in a lot of years, my back doesn't hurt any more,

oh i love that, this happens here alot, if i see something that's salvageable, i will knock then ask for it, sometimes i think that it's someone taking something INTO their himes so i have to ask first....

wow that's so nice of them to let you have the sofas, i just got a three seater black leather couch off her, i am going over to pick it up when my friend gets here with the van, she also told me that she has boxes of fabrics and cushions and other goodies so i can have a look through, she also said that she has wardrobes and tables etc, so while we have the van i can put them all in together. i think she should have a yard sale because the stuff is in great condition, but i won't mention that to her until i have my pick....lol...i do love freebies...

You know CanadaGal, you can always start your own FreeCycle group (that's what I did!). And I agree--it's a marvelous idea (it sure came in handy after my hubby left and I had to furnish a three-bedroom house!).

I don't have the drive to start something like that. I find ways and means to get my items passed on. There was a freecycle group I was part of here in London, ON, and was able to pass on a piano through it. I've never gone looking for anything through it though.

i think you should have taken that chair, if no one else has taken it, i saw a leather couch outside her home too it had only been oput out that day, so she has covered it up and i am going to collect it later on, she also has other items that she doesn't want so i am free to have a rummage through and take what i want, this will save her dumping it on the tip...she is happy to let me take what i want....how kind is that....

We are in a private bus that time and no one had stop so our driver didn't stop either. The chair looked so new. Maybe it was for deliviery? then it drooped and no one notice.

oh what a shame you couldn't stop, i bet someone has that chair now....

hi hornet, i jusrt saw your comment on my pics, i have alot of cat figurines all over the place, that book case i got will house some of them when it's finished, i have boxes of cats everywhere, plus 2 real ones, lol, i don't know how many i have now but i love all of my collection, the fire place looks great with them back on the shelf,

don't be surprise if you see Lottie and Max sitting right beside those figurines, lol

yes that's me about 10 months old, plus now you mention max and lottie, lottie climbed on the back of the television where my cats fiurines were, i was looking for her for ages and she was having a warm she didn't move, then she moved and i had a fright. it looked like she was one of the figurines...lol..it was so funny, i wish that i had have got a pic of it, it was so funny...

That's funny! How I wish you had taken her pix, that would be so cute, I am sure. That's why I always carry my digicam with me, so if ever I would see duchess in a very cute pose, BAM! Gotcha!
