Michelle Bachmann and the "Hoot-Smalley" Act...

Is this woman for real? Some people don't like the fact that Minnesota has elected comedian Al Franken to the U.S. Senate but it appears the state has already had an unintentional comic in the House of Representatives in Michelle Bachmann. The other day she made remarks on the House floor about it being "interesting" that the last outbreak of swine flu took pace under another Democratic President in 1976; apparently she'd forgotten Gerald Ford was in office in 1976. The same day she spoke of the "Hoot-Smalley" Act and blamed it on FDR: http://conservativexpress.blogspot.com/2009/04/michele-bachmann-gaffe-blames-fdr-for.html For the record, the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act was signed into law by Herbert Hoover, not FDR. I am beginning to think that to be in the government you need to be either an idiot or a tax evader.

OK, irishidid, you got me on that one, nobody can say I'm not a good sport...lol! I DO realize all politicians make gaffes and heck, I can see myself getting my "mix all talked up" with a bill with a name like that. BUT...she also had it wrong when it was signed and by whom, and that was no "misspeak". Annie

I guess the only reason is that she is a Republican and made these horrible boo boos that you felt fit to tell us, if she had been a Democrat, you would have let it pass. But it does show that if you go into politics, you have to be knowledgable about past presidents and the major bills that were passed under their term. So whether the representative is Democratic, Republican, or one of the other parties, ignorance of what went on should not be excused. I note that you did not tell of the ignorant booboos that Obama made, but then he is a Democrat.

I know you're not going to believe this, Suspenseful, but if Michelle Bachmann were a Democrat I would be equally amazed by her ignorance of the facts. This isn't the first, it's just the most recent. Here are a few more examples: http://www.dccc.org/page/content/bachmannwatch Whenever President Obama makes a mistake, no matter how large or small, someone beats me to it in posting it here! Even if I wanted to tell about every single one here, do you think I should post duplicate discussions? I haven't seen anyone else discuss Representative Bachmann so I thought she should get the recognition she's been missing. Annie

I guess you should complain about Obama and his choice of cabinet and advisers. They are going to lead the country to ruin. I mean it looks like America is going to turn socialist if one does not watch out.
