Artist cancels Messiah Obama display~ Flooded With Public Disapproval~   

I believe this is a law,post where Obama did not have to give him approval then there is no question that the artist had Obama's per approval to paint this mockery of Jesus Christ.

Obama’s calls for change and his “Yes We Can” campaign mantra are being evoked to sell assembly-required furniture in Ikea’s “Embrace Change” marketing campaign, bargain airfares during Southwest Airlines Inc.’s “Yes You Can” sale and “Yes Pecan” ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc. shops.

There is freedom of speech and freedom of expression in this country, Rose. Art is a form of expression, however it is also vastly different from commercial ads. There is no law that says you cannot create a piece of art in the image of this or any other president. Perhaps you would like to share that law with the class if you believe it exists.

Yes, there is freedom of speech. But why hasn't Obama come and condemned the painting? If he's as religious as he wants people to believe, he should have come out and said so. Some people think this painting is blasphemous. They have a right to their opinion. I'm also sick of the internet ads with 'obama' in them. Like Obama is some magical word to be used in marketing. The only thing I saw the Obamas come out against, and rightfully so, was the Sasha and Malia dolls some doll company was trying to make money on. So why don't they put the brakes on all this other crap?

This is a very good question, bottom line if a person dose not condone something them they condemn it and Obama of course has not done that even knowing there has been much public outrage over this disgusting painted,oh well his behavior don't surprise zillions of us Americans.

For the same reason he didn't condem this piece or any of the many others that have been produced. What would you rather have him do, waste our time listening to him recite a list of the latest pieces he doesn't approve of? That would certainly bring budding young political artists out of the woodwork...guaranteed instant fame!

When a president commissions a painting, it's official...on the record...and public knowledge. He meets with the artist, pose and backgrounds are discussed, sketches are done before the first brush stroke. D'Antuono's painting creeped me out, too.
