are you good at english?

I am moderate in English language. I can moderately deal with english. I used to write my blog posts with such an English. I think I can manage it.
But I have to improve a lot in English language.
I like English language.

When I was at school in the late 1950's and early 1960's, English and Maths were considered the most important learning topic, and rightly so. As soon as we could read and write a little, we were tested weekly on spellings, punctuation and grammar. These lessons, so easily absorbed because they were part of growing up, have stood me in good stead for life.

When my own children attended school in the late 1970's and early 1980's, the focus was more on expression than grammar and spelling. Mistakes were not corrected, as it may discourage the little darlings from expressing themselves fully! My own children, thankfully, weren't affected by this, as I insisted we did spellings and grammar at home. However, if you ever wonder how our society became so illiterate and shallow, you need look no further than the change in schooling in the 1970's.

The English language - or indeed any other language - should be treated with the respect it deserves by all who speak and write it. Sorry if I seem a bit obsessed with this, but I probably am!

Well, I may say that English is the simplest language, composed by only twentysix simple letters! It is my most liking language after my mother tongue 'Oriya' (the language of the Indian province Orissa). I have learnt English since I was a kid of eight years in class-4. But in my study syllabus pattern, speakable and writable good English was aquired by me only at the age of ten in class-6. In my locality, we like to learn English as this is an important International language!

I think that I'm fairly good at english. I've spoken this language ever since I was a kid, though I learned two at the same time, which is why I don't think that I'm excellent at speaking, or reading English, or anything like that. But I'm trying to get better at it.

Its not my mother tongue but i think im kind of okay with english. Im from a southern state of india. English is my best language after my mother tongue, and i like it a lot.

In the US it is a required subject for students to study. We learn spelling, grammar, and how to write with it properly. In the higher grades we study novels. I do not know anything about schools in other nations but my guess is that they do about the same thing just for their language.

I am from the Philippines. English was taught from grade school (I was age 6 then). Most of our textbooks are written in English - Mathematics, Language & Vocabulary, Social Studies, Physical Education and Health, Social Studies Class. During examination, test paper are also written in English. Instructions, Questions and Answer are in English. Though with my school then, we are not require to converse in English. If we need to communicate with our classmates, we do it in our native language. We only speak English during our class recitation. Hope this helps.

I have learnred English for more than ten years,but I am still bad at writing skill and speaking skill. I hope I can improve English writing skill through participating Mylot actively. I have mastered about 6000-7000 words.
