 My GF who died of cancer was buried yesterday. After the funeral, freinds were invited for refreshments and I was able to speak to Michael - her 13 year old son. he told me that a short while before his mother died, he lay on the bed beside her and cuddled her.a He told her how much he loved her, how grateful he was to have a mother like her and that he would never forget her. He then told her that he was O.K. with her leaving him and that it was all right for her to go.
He said that she then smiled and touched her cheek for a kiss. He gave her a kiss and then his Dad kissed her. She smiled again at them both and her sisters who were there and with one last look at them she quietly died.
I was so impressed with Michael - he is going to an incredible man when he grows up.He has been receiving counselling on his mother's sickness and now her death.
I don't know of any young person who could have handled this, in the way that he is handling it, without God's grace, do you?

I forgot to say that she spoke to several people in her family who had previously died before she actually died. I will miss her so much but I am also comforted that she did not die in torment at leaving her son. she wasn't scared of dying but of leaving Michael and he reassured her that he was going to be okay. I am humbled by his handling of his mother's death. Her is truly remarkable | |

That had to be special for her hearing him say that because as a mother you know she had to have concerns about that. What a loving and gentle way to be able to leave this life. Having to grow up without his mom now and hope he always finds people who are kind to him and listen patiently even when he tells them for the 1000th time how much he misses his mom or shares the same well remembered moments over and over.

At he reception he would talk to his classmates and then go back to his Dad and hug his Dad. He circulated the room speaking to almost everyone he knew. I really believe that God has laid His hand on Michael - whaT HE DID WAS THE MOST WONDERFUL ACT OF LOVE THAT ANY SON COULD DO TO A MOTHER WHO WAS IN TORMENT - NOT AT DYING, AS SHE WAS STRONG IN HER FAITH, BUT AT LEAVING HIM BEHIND.
