 Is Mr. Bean the greatest english comedy ever made? Although it is aimed as children, when you are older, you see there is a more adult side to him.. for example... in the hotel when he is naked, and he has signs over his bits.. the front one says "private" and the back one says "exit only"... thats a bit rude for children to understand

1.  wolfie34 (13885) | 8 months ago |  I much prefer One Foot In The Grave, that to me is the greatest English comedy and no matter how many times I watch it I am in hysterics, it's a great stress buster and great for watching when I am feeling 'down' They cram so much into each episode, it was such a shame that they ended it, I guess they ran out of ideas. Richard Wilson is a very funny man indeed. I am not that keen on Rowan Atkinson to be honest, he is funny agreeable but I thought Mr Bean was a little silly but then it was light-hearted. Kind of like the Baldy Man.

 Boffle (124) | 8 months ago |  I agree entirely. I have all the episodes of OFITG on DVD and never tire of watching them. As for Rowan Atkinson, I think he was better in Blackadder, but that is much more verbal style of comedy. Maybe Mr Bean has such wide appeal because there's almost no dialogue so there's not that much to get lost in translation.

But Mr Bean is definitely the most successful english comedy ever made. It is already a household name and the shows are being watch in many parts of the world.

| 5. threnos (207) | 6 months ago | I do think that Mr. Bean is one of the greatest English comedies ever made. The only one that equals it, in my opinion, is Red Dwarf. It is probably a tie for me between those two series. While CBC aired Mr. Bean a few years ago my reception isn't too good these days. Thank God my library has the Whole Bean collection to satisfy my hunger for Bean! | |
