Have you ever join in on a Mosh Pit at a concert?  email this discussion to a friend?

the concert i went to was small at a local place and i was on the edge of the mosh pit debating on joining when a girl i knew (and didnt really like because she was annoying) pushed me in and i fell into the pit.. i got stuck on the floor as people are tripping all over me and i was lucky because a bouncer got me off the floor but i was still stuck in the middle of the pit by then lol.. so me trying to get out of the pit was NOT fun since i was punched in the stomach, a shoe thrown at my face, kicked among other things..

needless to say i wasnt happy at this girl who pushed me into the crowd lol.. i would have joined in anyways but hello! i needed to be able to stand up and not fall face forward on the ground to be stepped on!!

so have you ever been in a mosh pit? do you like them? what injuries have you gotten while being in one?

No, I haven't even ever been to a concert at which there was a mosh-pit.

The closest I've ever gotten is either a giant trampolene at a friend's place or one of those huge inflatable 'jump-houses' which I have been inside of when it started deflating.

I was lucky enough to get out before it completely deflated, but it fed my claustrophobia.

Can you think of any way to get over claustrophobia like that?

myLot reputation of 97/100. moonlitmagikchild (8089)   ranked 3 out of 23 in concerts  3 years ago

i love those bouncy things but yeah that would have killed my claustrophobia! i would have freaked out bad!

myLot reputation of 77/100. mythman (1974)  3 years ago

I think what ignites claustrophobia is the feeling that you can't be where you're needed. I think the only 'cure' for that is to just know that--when the people need you--they'll figure out a way to get you out.

Until then, ... take a chill-pill! (I would've said 'do something' in 'the relaxed state,' but what I would've said to do is too closely related to "funerals etc" to suggest willy-nillysleep)

I don't do mosh pits. I don't like to bleed.
The closest I ever came was being in front at a concert and people trying to shove me and get to the front. Luckily I had my honey there to hold on to. But that was Queensryche so not a tough crowd.
Now next week I'm going to Disturbed so that could get rough so I will just stick to my corner of the place.

I have to say, I avoid these scenes if at all possible. I just don't want to be physically beaten in time to music. I have often wondered what the draw of a mosh pit. I guess there's solidarity in that shared experience. I would think that to survive you'd have to be pushing harder than you get pushed. But I see myself probably ending up in your position, at the bottom of the pile. Nope, doesn't sound like any fun to me.

yes this 46 year old body has endured the pounding of a mosh pit...actually it was about 5 years ago so it was only a 41 year o0ld body back then.

I took on the best of the best 20 something year olds.
I was continually body slammed to the ground only to get back up and continue my frenzied moshing......this went on repeatedly until a friend who wasn't quite as inebriated as me finally dragged me away from the melee.

I had a blast.......until the next day when my body let me know what I had done by inflicting me with every ache and pain in the book.

I haven't jumped in one since, although I have stood at the edge of a couple and have nearly been sucked into their vortex of violence.

would I do it again???

feed me enough alcohol and the right music, and anything's possible. wink
