Can anyone explain this picture? (picture link included this time) |

http://i26.photobucket.co... lived in this house that had a lot of paranormal activity in it. my pets would interact with something like it was a human but there was nothing. things would literally fly across the room. cold spots. toilet flushing on its own. voices. felt it push me down the stairs. the list goes on!anyways i took this picture at the house with my digital camera and it didnt show up funky on the preview on the camera but when i uploaded it it was all funky! i did not edit it in ANY way and i think the megapixals was like 2 or 3 (it was a long time ago when the cameras just came out) i took thousands of picture before this one and after this one and none of them messed up.. notice the dog, the couch, my leg is all clear and not blurred but yet her collar is and then there is the funky white smokey stuff swirling by.. i dont have any ideas and i have posted this at a few places and everyone just figured it was over exposed/double exposure but since its a digital camera thats not possible.. even if you dont believe in the paranormal what do you think technically could cause this? and why only one picture out of thousands? if you do believe in the paranormal what do you think it is?
REPOSTED DUE TO THE PHOTO NOT UPLOADING IN LAST DISCUSSION.. already contacting mylot to remove the other one so there wont be a duplicate

1. orang13 (313) | 8 months ago | this seems scary. But if you look at it, one possible reason of it is the use of the camera. Maybe you shook while taking the pic, and if you say that some are in great stiff, well, i had one too before. But it is not something like paranormal or something. Well, the pic looks scary when i read your post while watching over the picture.

moonlitmagikchild (7151) | 8 months ago | that camera would always blur everything if it moved any while the picture was taken.. thats why i didnt think it was that since the dog, couch and my leg are all clear.. other pictures everything would be blurred.. but maybe.. who knows lol

2. owlwings (5307) | 8 months ago | [Repeating my response here, in the event that the other discussion is deleted]
My considered opinion about the photo is that the shutter was open for longer than the actual flash exposure and that the dog was moving. This can tend to look a little like a double exposure as you can see from the 'double exposure' of dog fur over the red collar (or is it a coat?)
It actually seems to me that the dog was nosing your foot either as you pressed the shutter or (more likely) after the flash went off. Since you took it a while ago, it may be difficult to remember exactly what happened at the time.

owlwings (5307) | 8 months ago | It would certainly have been likely to happen on other pictures. Early digital cameras, especially, tended to use the slowest shutter speed with autoflash because the camera would first take a meter reading and then decide it was still too dark and so activate the flash. This usually means that the shutter opens for 1/30 or 1/15 second and the flash (which is less than 1/1000 sec) fires at some point while the shutter is open.
Quite a lot can happen in 1/15 sec and if the highlights are bright enough to register without the flash, you can get exactly that kind of blurring with something that moves quickly during the relatively long time that the shutter is open.
Sorry to dash your hopes about photos of ghosts! I don't think, though, that this is anything more than a quite normal 'ghosting' of an image, as explained.

moonlitmagikchild (7151) | 8 months ago | oh my hopes arent dashed.. i mean i wasnt like really hoping it was a ghost or anything.. it was just bugging me not knowing WHAT the deal was lol..

4. silvercoin (484) | 8 months ago | It looks like some kind of defect. One thing I'm sure about ghost photos - those ghostly smokes never affect other objects like that. They may cover part of any real object in the photo, or the whole object sometimes, but this..hm.I have a version that MAYBE we have both things here:I mean the defect and the ghost too.I can perfectly see something like long women hair here, but I'm not 100% sure.

6. mentalward (4342) | 8 months ago | Well, to me it looks like some kind of photographic defect, like the shutter got stuck open just for that one photo. It happens, you know.
However, I do believe in the supernatural. I grew up in a house with a spirit. I wasn't the only one who saw it. My entire family saw him and so did neighbors. They reported seeing someone standing at one of our front windows when we knew no one was home and the house hadn't been broken into.
Also, we spoke to this guy through a Ouija board. My sister and I were blindfolded while using the board and our mother read what was being said, so it couldn't have been our subconscious talking through our fingers.
I'm just sorry I never had the foresight to grab the camera and try to get a photo of our semi-unseen housemate!

7. patriciaqualls (4604) | 8 months ago | Hello yes I do think this is some kind of paranormal activity. They were trying to let you know that they were there that is for sure. That is pretty scary if you ask me. If it didn't happen to any picture and only just that one. I do believe in ghosts and I have seen and heard many.

|
|
moonlitmagikchild (7151) | 8 months ago | it was scary since that house was crazy with activity.. if it had happened at any other place i wouldnt be disturbed at all but this place was such a negative experience its a little disturbing if it is something

|
|
mentalward (4342) | 8 months ago | Well, to be honest, I looked really close at that picture and noticed some "foggy" areas that don't seem to be consistent with a stuck shutter or movement of the camera.
| |
|
|
mentalward (4342) | 8 months ago | Oops, sorry... I wrote that under the wrong response, but still, I can't explain ALL the foggy parts! It could be a little of all... slow shutter, movement of the camera AND a spirit!
| |
|
|
patriciaqualls (4604) | 8 months ago | That is a very strange picture that is for sure. I bet you are glad to be out of that house.
| |
|
|
moonlitmagikchild (7151) | 8 months ago | yeah that house was really horrible.. it would just make you go nuts and every day felt like torture mentally and emotionally
| |
|
|
patriciaqualls (4604) | 8 months ago | I lived in a house like that. The guy that lived there got murdered. It was a tragic death. I could hear screaming all the time in that room. I left nothing in that room and never went in there. There would always be a light on somehow in that room it was very scary. I am so glad I don't live there anymore. There is a lot more to tell about this house but it scares me even now to write this.

9. krajibg (2494) | 8 months ago | Hi Moon,
If or not ghost and paranormal things exists but this dog's picture looks unnatural there is something there. Ok, as you have cleared that this is taken with a digi camera so the possibility of its getting blurred sometime is ruled out. (Wait I have a Digi Camera and I have taken many photos and sometime they come like this if the object moved just at the very moment of clicking it )
And rest of the things are really strange. Do you still live in that house. I am in dilemma now.

10. kprofgames (1451) | 8 months ago | Digital cameras are a funny animal sometimes. I have one and what seems great on my view screen doesn't look so great after I've printed it or uploaded it. The top portion of the picture looks like a light reflection. These aren't always present in the view screen, but come out after it gets on a bigger computer screen or printed. Light can refract off of a flash from the smallest of places or from glass. That is what it looks like to me.
The smokey stuff is unexplainable. Because of your dogs eyes, it looks like he's looking at something.
Yes I do believe there is paranormal activity. I think for the most part we program ourselves to justify what we can't explain for our own peace of mind. Others are hyper sensative to it. Animals are just like they are sensative to weather changes.
Curious if you've ever put a tape recorder around and then listened to it later or when you feel 'not along' in a room just take your camera and click off a few pictures in every corner of the room.
