H1N1 the virus formerly known as the Swine Flu, Should they've changed the name? | | The virus formerly known as the Swine Flu is now being renamed as Influenza A H1N1 by the World Health Organization (WHO). In what seems to be an attempt to prevent a sharp decline in global pork sales. Many media outlets such as the New York Times and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation(CBC) are refusing to change the name in their publications and broadcasts. They calim that it would be too confusing for their audiences to change the name now that they have been refering to H1N1 Flu as the Swine Flu for the last week. I'm sure many pig farmers are happy about the WHO's decision. What do you think? Should they have renamed it? What should we call it?
