Why can't I say thank you in my lot??

It says in the mylot guidlines!

I know I didnt believe it too when I read it. I had to read it three times to make sure I wasnt loosing my mind..

You are right. You aren't just supposed to post thanks for responses. You can comment and then add thanks at the end but it must be a worthwhile comment.

Eheheh it's not them making the mistakes. They are doing a fine job and still paying after all this time too!

The person or admin who pays the poster is entitled to make the rules. If you dislike them, start your own paying site.

where do u find the mylot guidelines at? im still new at this.. and how much do u normally get paid per participation message and everything else? cuz i participated 1 time and i got 1 cent for it..is my lot really that tight with money???

Its not a paid to post site.

You don't get a set ammount per discussion/response/comment etc.

Its based on things like the quality of your post.

If members post replies trying to explain how much you are paid per post then they're probably wrong and they are definitely breaking the rule above.

This site won't make you rich but its one of the best around and it's good to have discussions with people you can learn from and get paid into the bargain

It is a paid to post site though. Pay is based on participation. And posting is how you participate. Need to correct that or people will be confused on how exactly they earn on here. You get paid to post.

The problem is that it isn't really a pay per post site as such. Generally a pay per post site will have a specific ammount that is paid per post. Mylot may pay nothing whatsoever for a post if it isn't up to scratch. If you posted 1000 2 line responses I doubt if you would be paid very much,if anything,perpost. If you wrote 1000 quality responses then I expect you would be paid quite well.

Yes I agree that there are times that Thank you is not necessary here in my lot. I think they probably meant that saying thank you won't get you paid. Afterall i don't anybosy expects to be paid for saying thank you..

I find that if you say it in your comment tothe responder it also sounds like you are not welcimg any further comments from them, as though it's the end of the conversation. By leaving it out your comment is open for further discussion and in that case you can add it on the next comment after they return and you comment back - or leave it out until you feel the responder has no more to say on the topic in question.

I think your explanation makes a lot of sense and I was doing that intuitively. But, being Canadian, we always punctuate everything with a "thank you" or "sorry"

and add it on at the end (whenever that is )

Of course you can - but add it on to something else too just like you would in normal conversaton. I find it very rare that I say just 'thank you' offline so it's just the same here. As long as it is not allby itself but with a few more words it's ok.

Yes indeed! They are not telling us we have to be rude. It is a lot of common sense but maybe it's not so common now

It seems like common sense to me!!! However, I've been told by veteran lotters that I'm breaking the guidelines for saying thank you during my lengthy comment. Since myLot is looking for healthy, happy discussions, I just continued on my path figuring I'd be able to tell if I was wrong!!! I think that once we've acknowledged the response, it is perfectly polite to say thank you for your contribution!!!

I agree that IS common sense and common courtesy. I too add it somewhere but not immediately or it could appear as though I no longer wish to comment further. Once the response-comment-response-comment is over then I add it with the last bit.

I by no means say thank you to every response. I do try & make a comment to every response. Every now & then I come across one that thank you is the only comment that works. I chalk those up to collateral damage. If there is nothing i can think of to say but thank you, then I'll forgo the earnings & just say thank you. I try at ALL cost to come up with a comment, but some just make it impossible!!!

wow are they that serious about that? I thought the worst punishment would be decreasing your earnings.. I'm sure your friend did something else.. cant be for not saying thank otherwise 99% of us my lotters would have booted out as well..

I think your friend had to have done much more than that to get kicked off...plus, they DON'T tell you why you have been booted...they just do it.

Saying thanks will result in losing earnings not getting banned. She may have been banned for repeatedly ignoring warnings about her posts and that is fair enough.

If saying thank you would get you booted off myLot, I'd have been gone a LONG TIME AGO!!! My understanding is they NEVER tell us why we've been booted. A few have been warned that if they didn't quit their abusive behavior, they could be booted, but most actually booted were NOT told why!!!

Plain & simple.... SHORT comments do NOT get paid.... thank you is a SHORT comment. A full & complete comment including thank you is permissible!!!

I have said "Thank You" many times, and as you can see, I am still here. No one has warned me, or banned me. I agree that this guideline may need rephrasing for clarification.You are not to add just "Thank you" as a comment to a response. Mysdianit is frequently right on target with what she says.

It should be that short comments don't get paid, although thats why they have the + and - next to comments, no need to say thank you just click the +

We get paid for ALL our activities including comments.

I promise you we get paid to make comments to responses....that's a vital part of the discussion!!! My highest paying day was when I commented to EVERY response to my discussion. Lengthy (quality) comments are worth MORE than only one or two words. So, becoming a chatty Cathy in myLot is a HUGE PLUS!!!

Because they do not up your post count for each comment it is easy to believe that you do not get paid for commenting. I did believe that, until I did an experiment or two and convinced myself. I now comment on all responses if I can. Once in awhile there are some that just leave me speechless.
