Are you aspiring to be a photographer? I am not a professional so I may have to comment pretty basically. Judging by the way you posed for this pic, I believe you have an imagination. That's very important for a start. However for me it quite lacks the 'drama'. Gee, can't describe that further.

The poor lighting is probably because of being against the light (from the sky). Being outdoors and probably using a digicam, I don't know how that can be done in a much better way. I suggest you try asking this user leonelaphotography. She's someone I know who is into this hobby. She even climbs mountains just to take pictures.

It is a typical self portrait and the top of your head is cut off. You are shooting with a lighted background so you have shadows over your face. You can see your hand moving away from the camera and this causes a slight out of focus of your face. There is not balance to the photo with you face off center and your hand on the other side.

Suggestions:

1. use fill flash when shooting with strong back lighting.
2. Use a self timer to take the photo.
3. Use a tripod and compose the photo then take the photo.
4. Plan for the photo shoot and take several different pictures using different exposures, angles, and lighting.

One of the secrets to taking good pictures is to try many different thing for a picture. with digital cameras of today you can take many photos of the same subject and try different things. Keep taking photos and let us know what you are doing.

I'm not an expert nor a professional in photography.. All i can say it that, u need to have the right person for the right photo in the right settings and environment.. IN your case here, u do suit the photo well, and it's not easy to be taking your own picture at such an angle^_^

Lighting and all are quite good too, and they seem ok to me.. hehe^_^
