While it's had several names in the past, the stadium in Miami where the Dolphins and the Marlins play is now called Land Shark Stadium. It's named for a beer owned jointly by Jimmy Buffet and Budweiser. I just can't seem to find out what a Land Shark is. Can you tell me?

Well, I appreciate the compliment, but this one really does stump me. And I've missed hearing from you. When are you coming to Miami?

In the classic SNL skit, a shark attacks on land.the Landshark is considered the cleverest of all sharks. Unlike the great white shark, which tends to inhabit the waters and harbors and recreational beach areas, the Land Shark may strike at any place, anytime. It is capable of disguising its voice, and generally preys on young, single women. The skit showed the Land Shark attacking several people by knocking on their doors and pretending to be repairmen, door-to-door salesmen, and the like. Once the victim opened their door, the Land Shark would swoop in for the kill.

What a great bunch of skits those were! I just figured there was something else going on, as in Steve's answer.

A Tolkian land shark? At the end of the Lord of the Rings, Frodo and company return to Hobbit land to discover it under the control of a gang of men. Their leader, the major good wizard gone bad, named Saruman, had the nickname of Sharky to his followers. In front of Bilbo and Frodo's door where the lane ended and was formerly known as Bags End to the locals. Thereafter the locals referred to the place as Sharkey End. While not formally labeled "Epilogue" this end to the Lord of the Rings was skipped in the Movie version, which was a shameful thing to do, because it showed how little people can stand up and overcome organized land sharks and restore peace to their community. Oh, and the original novel, "The Hobbit," is truly the "Proplogue" to the Lord of the Rings. But I ramble on as authors do... Steve
