Is this any good?

I really like the angle you chose, but the picture looks kind of blurry to me. I think it could benefit from a higher resolution as well as a bigger size.

Also, in order to enable people to compare this picutre to your girlfriend's work, you should perhaps post your picture and hers, preferrably of the same object, side by side.

It's okay. Not that perfect, but fine. If you practice a bit more, you can beat your girlfriend.
The shot was taken from a good perspective. It's called a low angle shot and it's famous in films. They do it for bringing out the loftiness of certain characters. Your shot is good.
I would ask you to focus more correctly, it's autofocus, i guess, but the face should have been a little lower. And use a camera with a better resolution.

First of all I would not try to compete with your girlfriend. She has probably been doing it longer that you (I am guessing). Try to enjoy taking pictures and not think about whether your picture will be better than hers.

As for the picture, it is a good angle, but could be a little more in focus.

What type of camera do you use and what setting did you have it on?
