I'm wondering what's it like in other countries. Because in Vancouver, BC Canada, we have recycle bins for everyone, and it is reccomended everyone recycle newspaper, bottles, plastic ect.

In my country, we actually collect newspapers for about a month, and at the end of the month sell it to an old newspaper guy for a few rs. That guy then goes to the recycling place and gets money for doing so. It works out very convenient as otherwise most people would just throw away their old papers.

My apartment complex used to have separate bins for recyclable materials but they are not around anymore. There were too many residents using those containers for regular garbage, I suppose, so they just took them away. I never understood why my neighbors would use the smaller recycle containers for regular garbage since the bins for regular garbage were so much larger, but it doesn't matter now.
The state of California in the United States charges an additional fee for all drinks sold in glass or plastic containers as a kind of recycling incentive, that in old times were refundable at most stores, but that is the case no longer. You have to transport the discarded items yourself to special recycling centers. I don't have a car, so it's difficult for me to transport my sorted refuse to those centers.
Fortuneately being in a present Republican State there are lots of homeless people, so I have all my cans, glass, and plastic containers in separate bags for them to sell to those special recycling centers.
Yes, a sad state of affairs, but it is what it is.

Yes, of course, I try....
I live in Italia, in my country a good number of people try to recycle and in every primary school teachers teach their young students how important is recycling nowadays and how to do it.
It' svery important to teach to the adolescents the importance of recycling and echology.
In my town I have the possibility to recycle glass, paper, plastic, cans, organic waste and batteries.

I try to recycle and we do have recycle bins here for plastic and cans. Since we can take can's to metal recyclers and be paid for them directly I often do that instead.
Somethings I refuse to recycle because data suggests it is more harmful for the environment to do so. This would include paper and some types of plastics. The by products of paper recycling is one of the worst from articles that I have read as it leaves behind a nasty sludge of ink and chemicals. The toxins released into the air are also not good.

Yes I recycle as much as I can but unfortunately not many Icelanders do that yet. I make my own soil in the garden from leftover food (only the food that won't smell though) and I try to sort my garbage as well as I can and take it to the recycling center.
