My parents are traveling to Europe in a week. Mainly The Netherlands and surrounding countries. We are gathering info on how much spending money they will need including money for gas. They think that gas costs around $6 a gallon in Holland. I guess we should stop complaining about $2.29 a gallon here in Southern Cal. Anyway, what's the price of gas where you live?

Our gas is about 90 cents a liter here in Winnipeg, MB. Canada. I do not know that would be in gallons. But it does work out to a lot. It used to be over $1.25 but I guess someone complained because (say it was me here on myLot. Do you think one of our government is also a member? ) we do produce oil and gasoline here and do not need to import it.

How come we don't get oil from Canada? It's a mystery to me.

Here in Kentucky the gas prices are $2.25-$2.32 all depending in where you get it and what type you get. We usually get the unleaded kind. Wow,$.600 a gallon is alot and when it was almost that high people could barely afford to get to work and back or take their kids where they needed to go. I wish them all the luck on their travels and hope they get to enjoy themselves tremendously and bring back lots of souvenirs. And may they have a safe trip and return.

Yes, I know that around the US, unleaded is still way below $3 a gallon. $6 a gallon would drive us into the public transport system, though prices of tickets would probably go up too.

Our gas prices here in Texas are currently 2.09 a gallon. They've went up ten cents in the last week because last week it was 1.99 a gallon. 6.00 a gallon is crazy. I would have to walk if it was that much here. :-D

The increased prices here bother us, but we should count our blessings.

Wow! I am counting my blessings. $7 a gallon would start a riot here. How do you guys do it? Hopefully taking a bus will be cheaper.

I don't know what that would be in USD, but it could possibly be around $8 a gallon. We would protest in front of gas stations. Thanks kapil, I appreciate your input.

Since I am answering this discussion about a month after you initially posted it, the price of gas has gone up. We live in St. Louis and the price of gas is now $2.45 a gallon. It's my understanding that Missouri has one of the lowest gas prices in the states. Last summer it was almost to $4.00 a gallon. It could increase again during the summer and this whole thing is just pitiful. Shouldn't happen.

We briefly went up to $2.15, and are back down to $2.05. I live right in the middle of Kansas. We often heard that our area had cheaper gas than anywhere else.

My husband just told me that about a week ago when he last checked it was around $0.97 a litre. My husband and I don't drive because we are almost blind, so we are not there every day to see what gas costs. There is a gas station we pass by on the bus, but we sure don't need to stop there. LOL

Well it depends on the countries your parents intend to visit in Europe in wikipedia there is a list of countries and respective prices, I do not know how accurate it is but it does give a general idea : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline_and_diesel_usage_and_pricing Also, if you shop around and in large cities there are variations in feul prices, eg were I live it may very from 1.09€/litre to 1.29€/l for 95 Octane which would be like your super, the super plus is on average 10c/l more expensive. Also in certain countries a diesel car is a valid option as feul may be 10c/ to 30c/l cheaper. It must be noted that due to the high feul prices the cars tend to have smaller engines and be more efficient and economical, a great deal of cars use 5 to 9 litres per 100km. I do hope that the prices do not increase like they did last time at 1.55€/l for the 95 at the cheapest petrol station the prices were unbearable. I hope they enjoy themselves though and have a great vacation.

Here in India, we pay about 50 INR for a litre of petrol that is about $1. Gas costs less than petrol but is not available in every area, I mean only in big cities. It will take some time for us to start using gas instead of petrol.

Hi gtargirl..Here on the east coast of Canada, gas is sitting at 98 cents a litre and expected to go up tonight by about 5 more cents a litre..Soooo000 It will be over $4 a gallon. THey are expecting it will go up significantly over the summer when they know people are travelling. I was in the states last fall, and couldnt beleive how much cheaper gas was there. I filled up before I came back across the border.

I paid $2.09 a gallon this morning at a Shell station in Baton Rouge, LA. It is up to $2.19 at some stations and as low as $2.05 but hard to find at that price! It is creeping back up pretty quickly here. I'm seeing a change in price at least twice a week here.

I think it is over $2.00 per gallon again now. I do not get out much but that is what I have heard. I heard it is going to go up more also.

I live on the westcoast of Canada and gas went up to $1.03 a litre today which is roughly $4.40 a Canadian gallon. Luckily for me my car is an old taxi and runs on propane at 64 cents a litre. We complain about the price of fuel but compared to other places in the world I guess we are pretty lucky here.

I do not have a car at the moment but I have looked at the prices and I must say it runs between say 1.99 and like 2.12. I live in Ohio and it seems like it has been staying at that spot for awhile now. Nice topic to discuss, I must say I guess we should not complain about the prices when other people are paying like 8$ a gallon. Take care and happy mylotting to you as well.
