can a man be friends with a woman without an attraction?

yes of corse they can... i have a heap of male friends and I know that its not a attraction thing we are real friends...

This is not an easy question, and I think it doesn't have just one answer. When two people fall in love for each other they sure are attracted one another. But we can say the same for friends. Sometimes you get SO close you even dream about having sex with them, even if you're straight and your friend is the same gender as yours (it happened to me and it happens to many people). Obviously, when the two friends are opposite genders, I think it's almost impossible, if not at all, that there is some kind of attraction between the two. I think it's part of the game and it's good the way it is. Just look at the neverending list of movies or fictions where you find a couple of male/female friends and they're friends and/or work together and they end up in the same bed somehow, someway, and while you watch it you almost don't care about the rest of the story, you just hope that they end up together somehow. It's crazy, but that's the way it is.
In conclusion, I say there will always be an attraction between a man and a woman who are friends, because that happens even when the two friends are both the same gender.

Friendship need not be for sex. There are very many things when two persons agree or agreeable. There can be mutual exchange of views, there can be help rendered and received, there can be sharing the work load etc.

Friendship need not necessarily be for sexual gratification. There are many who are friends, not attracted due to sex. Particularly those who are working in offices and factories. The nature of work at their workplace requires contact between the two and it might have resulted in friendship.

well obviously there has to be some kind of attraction there that aloows the bond to be formed in the first place. I guess the attraction involved just isnt sexual thats all.

I think men can be friend with women without an attraction. I have a male friend from college. He is like my big brother to me and Im like a little sister. We dont see much but we still keep in touch. We never had relationship beyond regular friendship.

Yes it is definately true unless he is gay:-), if he is straight like me then usually a guy befriends a girl because he is interested in more somewhere along the line and a girl most likely knows this and actually does want him as just a friend but doesnt mind the attention she gets from her male friends but acts naive about it as if she doesnt know he is interested:-)
