Do you have any home remedies for coughing? I have a cold with a bit of a cough. It's not horrible all the time, but once in a while it becomes annoying. Sometimes I'll drink tea with honey and lemon. I use this when I have a sore throat too. It works great for sore throats and I think it is somewhat helpful when I'm coughing to. I just don't feel like taking over the counter cough medicine for some reason and I was wondering if any mylotters had any home remedies other than the one I know.

Raspberry, Honeysuckle or Liquorice Tea with Honey is good, or try one of the following recipes... 1. Put the juice of a lemon, one cup of honey and half a cup of olive oil in a pan. Bring to the boil and simmer for five minutes, then stir well for two minutes. Doseage: take 1 teaspoon of the linctus every two hours. 2. Take a half cup of Apple Cider Vinegar, a half cup of water, one tspn of Cayenne Pepper. Combine these ingredients, then add honey, to sweeten to your taste. Doseage: 1 tbspn when coughing starts, then 1 tbspn before going to bed. If you have a honey allergy or diabetes you should omit the honey from this recipe. 3. Mix 1 tspn of grated Horseradish, or 1 finely chopped clove of Garlic with 2 tspns of Honey. Doseage: 1 tspn every two-three hours. I hope one of these will help you. Brightest Blessings.

Yes, I'm glad your cold has gone but they're handy things to have around. Hopefully, there won't be a next time too soon, though.

Thank you. My cold is just about gone, but I like the recipes you suggested. I'm going to keep them for the future.

well the honey and lemon, and vickvaprub to get the cold out of the body, you can put vicks on the souls of your feet, and put socks on, go to bed and the next day the cold is cleared.

I've heard of vics on your chest or in your nose. I've never heard of putting it on your feet before. Sounds interesting. My cold has just about gone, but I may try this next time.

I read on here awhile ago that if you put slices of potato in a sock so the potato is under your feet, I guess you would have to do this when laying down, I am not sure why this would work but they said it is even good when you have a fever....worth a try I guess, but i always go for sucking on something with menthol in it.

Steam treatments for the phlegmy coughs that come from the chest... Hot totties--made with tea, honey, lemon, and a shot of whiskey makes for a good cough remedy--and after about 6 of those in a couple of hours...you're feeling pretty darned good--at least less miserable anyway. dr...

Put alittle whiskey in the tea and it will help you sleep and cut the cough. Honey and lemon is the best. Zinc and vitamin c supplements help as well. Sometimes just sucking on a lozenge or hard candy it will help to have something going down your throat. A hot, steamy shower is nice to relieve a nagging cough as well. Laying on your side is a good thing to do to keep from coughing while you sleep too. I hate that.

Honey and lemon juice is the only one I know of. I just suck on HALS Cough drops that seems to work as well as anything for me.
