I just got my bill from my cell phone provider yesterday (via email). When I looked at, I was confused as to why it was so high.
When I looked closer, I saw that I was charged $20 for 'data'. I thought that was funny, because that was all supposed to be blocked from the phones. When I looked farther into it, I saw that it was actually 2 'premium' text messages - at $9.99 each!
I called the phone company. They told me how to stop those ones from happening again. When I told her that we hadnt done any of that in the first place, she accused my husband of lying to me about it.
My husband has no reason to lie about that stuff! I was completely offended by her attitude. They wouldnt refund any of the money. So now I have to spend my time on the phone with these companies that I have never heard of to try to get my money back. After another 20 minutes of arguing with this woman, she finally told me that the 'premium' text messaging could be blocked without affecting the rest of the text message service. Why didnt she tell me this to begin with!?!
Do you use premium text messaging? Did you know that you could get it blocked? How do you deal with the problem when you are charged for something you didnt do or use?

I've never heard of premium text messaging. My cellular service is with AT&T. They have standard text messaging and medi messaging which is when you send a photo or video via text message. I have a text messaging plan, for $15 I get 1,500 text messages a month. That includes out going and in coming messages. So far I haven't gone over my 1,500 monthly messages.
