Yeah but isn't it a waste of the MyLot administration's time to have to sort through if people are just randomly reporting discussions that aren't violations? We all know how it goes but it seems to be getting bad again.

Seems it comes and goes in waves of annoying activity.

That is what I was implying. If they are receiving a ton of reports which are not exact and should not have been sent then it would be extra work obviously and therefore I would have thought they would have warned whoever is causing it.

I have seen that in the last few days many deletions have taken place and personally I have lost over 100 with relative earnings too but I was aware that at some point they would go. I still believe that myLot do not remove posts that are not violations but I also believe that more valid reporting is taking place.

I know what you mean. I'm glad we respond to even the ones that we know are going to go. Some violations I can see coming but others there isn't a clue as to why.

I reported some plagiarists (but I'm sure anyone would have done so had they seen them too) and maybe you lost posts on dicussions youwere not aware were plagiarised?

I also reported a jerk who was posting the response that he/she copied from a few responses earlier If they hadn't been so daft as to copy MINE I probably wouldn't have even noticed

I don't really notice losing points or pennies too much because I know they do that. But I do notice when discussions I have been responding to up and goes away.

No-one needs to because it doesn't pay. Only losers do it and when one of the OPs saw what was happening he too was appalled

This place is crawling with parasites and they don't realise it will not earn them a penny! Other sites died because of similar antics by others (or maybe even them) - myLot is not 'other sites'.

In order to be sure it is a case of plagiarism it has to be searched first right? I then add the link to the report and many times I respond on the discussion itself providing the dourse the post was taken from.

That is a good poinr Alice. We don't even know how many Admins are on staff at myLot.

hiya zone... If they dont have enough admin staff (which is more than likely or they wouldn't ask the users to help out) then they should get more to oversee the site, users are getting at each other's throats with all this crap and I wish there was no such thing as rating. Thing is zone, if we were all to plagiarize then the site would run out of cash and nobody would be paid... maybe that would be a better option than all this strife!

I guess that is why they ask us to report any violations, in a way it does make sense after all it is our community after all and this is what myLot is aimed at, the end user. I think things will settle down and be back to normal after awhile.

Mylot has always asked us to help police ourselves. I do not think that they read everything that is reported, they take people at their word. In the time I have been here we have been round and round with deletions and violations. New rules added when people seemed to abuse the system. I dislike when people get their discussions deleted, especially if I have answered them. I do weigh in my mind the fact that another person will possibly consider something a violation that I did not. And there are people that still like to tattle.

I have only ever reported one member and that was actually the same copier of responses mentioned above.

I only did this after I had left responses on several of her discussions where she was extremely obviously copying responses from earlier in the same conversation.

When I come across a conversation which is obviously breaking the rules I leave a short response to try to explain about the discussion guidelines. I don't report it because thats a bit harsh. I would report it if I came across the same member continually breaking the rules.

I do see that when a conversation gets deleted everyone suffers which is why I think we should all respond to the discussion rather than report it. If it happens repeatedly then by all means report it but only for genuine reasons.

As for the rating system I want it scrapped as I believe it is being abused.

This is supposed to be a fun site and some of the arguing/name calling and reporting is getting a bit petty. If we all help each other then we will all benefit.

Many violations do occur there and as the Guidelines are the same for all the users whether old or new the same deletions take place. If a ref link is in a discussion by a new user then Ido warn them not to do it -
and receive back what they think I deserve for having informed them that there are rules here

I get along with everyone except those who expect to come here and be allowed to cheat. They cannot leave a site that is no longer paying and expect to come here and do the same thing they were doing there ao that the Lot goes down too! Spamming is not allowed anywhere!

It was a general why can't we get along... not for any one person. Dianmelydia said we should be helping eachother not attacking.

I am so openly helping and losing time, points and earnings by doing so but I am convinced that many will benefit so I continue to help.

Even some of those who retaliate because they do not appreciate being told not to advertise eventually turn over a new leaf so my 'attacks' in the money interests will continue too.

I have to agree here MysD you most certainly do help others... too much IMO! but that is your choice hon. Helping each other to keep the site clean is helping ourselves to earn, have fun, good discussions and most importantly of all... keep the Lot running! I don't go around looking for plagiarists but will report them if I see it. I didn't like doing it when I joined the Lot... and still don't, but as james says.. it's for the betterment of the community.

I reported only one thing here and thats because i thought the picture posted by someone contained offensive material towards one religion . But its still up there .

I for one have benefitted from advice I received when I first became active on this site.

I don't actively look for rule breakers but if I see things that break the rules I will leave a response to point it out. I do it because if someone isn't told about their mistakes then how will they learn? If we all left these sort of comments then I think that we would all benefit. The quality of discussions would go up and the number deleted would go down. Good for us all

oh I agree with that mike but some just ignore the warnings or like to have an argument about it!

Mike as I said elswhere here some of the new users do not want to learn... and some are not even as 'new' as they appear to be. Those wll never be fun users as they think only for themselves and not for the community as a whole

James what defines 'long term member'?

Does that give them certain rights?
Does time or user reputation make them a 'long term member'?

In my books they should be the first to set an example and not the ones who think that they can get away with plagiarising because they are a 'long term member'

A steady, reliable member that knows the rules shouldn't be reported over and over again for non-violations. Time, star color, or post numbers aren't the issue.

I think that valid reporting is fine but sometimes things boarder on the dumb.

You may have misundersttod what I was trying to say here MysD, either that or I worded it ineffectively. What I was trying to say was that there have been a number of discussions that've been deleted lately that were written by members that have been here long enough to know the ins and outs of the rules etc, so know what's within the rules and what isn't. Yet their discussions were deleted anyway because people with nothing better to do have obviously been repeatedly reporting them. It's THESE actions by troublemakers that are in question here, because the negative actions of a few are causing issues for people that don't deserve to be experiencing something like this.

As for my idea of a long term member, it's not the number of posts next to their name, it's a member that's been on mylot for a significant period of time and has experience of the ups and downs, rules and regulation changes etc. These members have seen many a person come and go and many a thing change, they've also been around long enough to know what's right and what isn't in most cases. Mind you, ignorance is ignorance and having been here long term is not a guarantee of good behaviour, but it's more likely that these members are honest more times than not and won't deliberately cross the line into violation territory!

Personally I do NOT believe that each and every reported discussion is double checked by admin to the nth degree. If there are multiple reports against a discussion or comment, there is a high chance it will disappear even if it IS arguably within guidelines. I've seen many a comment or discussion get deleted that was in no way a violation. If there was consistent double checking of reported activity, then this wouldn't happen.

I hate all this strife between the users and wish reporting wasn't an option. It is good to see that we can all have a discussion about it without harsh words. If it keeps going there is going to be a split with those who will, those who won't and those that are totally confused with it all and don't know what to do. I have and will report blatant plagiarism, but would overlook minor rule breaking... hell I've fractured a law or two myself!

Let's simplify the whole "art" of reporting into one word - INTENTION. If it's not purposefully done, advise, if they continue to do it REPORT. If you see someone over and over again plagiarising or being abusive etc, REPORT. To me, it's usually pretty clear who's cheating and who's made an honest mistake. Too many gray areas here are just gonna confuse people! INTENTION!

Plagiarists are the real problem with this sort of site and these are the people that need to be reported as they really are damaging. I don't have a clue why some discussions get deleted but I'm starting to feel that it is due to them being reported a few times by others who don't like the member who started the discussion. This makes me believe that mylot may just have an auto delete if a discussion is reported several times. Who knows really but I think things would probably be better if the reporting was removed and mylot got more mods.

Mike, I don't think there'd be an auto delete function in place here, no. But I do feel that the number of reports received play a major role and not all responses and discussions would be double checked properly before deletion. There's way too much activity on here for everything to be checked thoroughly! As for mods, I do believe that they should be known and there should be many of them too. Bottom line is that admin would be very dependent on our collective policing. It's just a shame that people abuse the privelege.

A lot of us are seeing that and think it may be a person or group who are working hard to get rid of certain things.

Don't feel bad, you aren't alone. The Lot is a great place to enjoy and earn. It just means sticking to our guns and moving on even when folks play dumb games.

It may be that the conversations that you respond to are getting deleted rather than someone targetting your responses. Do you think that may be the case or are the discussions still up and just your responses are missing?

They have, They have also taken my posts, changed the wording a bit and called it their own. Funny thing happened. People started noticing and though this person is still on the lot they don't start near as many discussions and none are too much like mine.
