The issue with Western countries not being good at badminton is that the sport is not considered to be a major sport. The athletes are not star names, they are not millionaires. In order for a sport to be seen as "big time" in the West, there has to be an incentive and currently there really isn't.

I really like the game. I used to play it in gym class. I have a cheap lil set from the dollar store in my shed however, I think it's easier to play inside the birdie is greatly effected by even the gentlest winds.
