I was diagnosed with being infertile when I was 22 years old. I was told that while there were treatments available that they could not guarantee that i would ever be able to become pregnant. As they did not know what was causing me to not be able to get pregnant. In fact my inability to get pregnant added in my divorce from my first husband.
When my second husband and I started dating it was one of the first things I told him. He said that we would deal with it, and well we did. We agreed to one year of treatments and then adoption. We agreed that if we made it to IVF we would do no more than two cycles of IVF and that we would only put back one embryo (to eliminate the chance of multiples, good one right I have triplets). Thank goodness we lived in a state with Insurance mandate coverage of infertility. And Thank God that we were able to get pregnant on our third completed cycle of artificial insemination, we never made it to IVF. I got pregnant with triplets and only had two mature eggs, so they thought.
I also have to say that I believe that insurance should pay for treatments when it is a medical reason that a couple can not get pregnant. This would also help in regulating treatments and reduce the number of High Order Multiple births.
so what would you do and what are your thoughts

How wonderful!!! Congrats to you and your hubby. Our story is very simular. We tried IVF two times and the second time worked. My husband had PKD and IVF was really our only option. We have four year old triplets and have been blessed... as it sounds like you all have been. It is just very dangerous to have multiples... three and over. Our doctor was very concerned about the health of each of them along with myself since I was older. Those that are having 5,6,7 - wow... there is just so much to think about as far as their health or can you really provide for them properly. I really think it takes a special person to be a mother of multiples.... and not every one can do it. I have been blessed and God has really guided me and there are days I am ready to toss in that towel. There are so many people that would be wonderful parents that just do not get the chance because IVF cost so much. We wiped out my 401 K plan and now we do stuggle since I do not work since they have been born and my hubby is disabled. But we learned to survive and do what is best for the kids and our family.

Congratulations to you for having triplets after you thought that you were infertile. If I hadn't been able to have children naturally I would have adopted two or three children. I feel sorry for any lady that is infertile. I think that free fertility treatment should be available for every lady that needs it. I know a lady that tried to get pregnant for ten years. She had IVF and got triplet boys.
