Anyone else expanding their gardening because of the recession.  email this discussion to a friend?

We are trying to plant every possible inch of ground we have to bring the cost of food down later in the year. Probably would have done it this way this year anyway. I hate cutting lawn all the time. We still have lots of lawn. Can't really grow a garden on our septic bed. Might destabilize it. Also have room for a playground for the kids with a full outdoor volleyball court. Rest of it is supposed to eventually be turned to agricultural use. Not doing bad for a little less than two acres. Wasn't much of a hobby farm when we moved in but it is really coming along. Sorry to ramble.

I do love gardening I put my plants in any kinds of things like can, old tires, bamboo, plastic cups, and everywhere. I love planting trees also to prevent Global Warming. Gardening is fun!

Hi, Philbo happy Welcome to Mylot.
We have been living in a subdivision for ten years now. All our vegetables are store-bought. However, a few months ago, we were able to buy the vacant lot in front of our house. It is small, just a hundred square meters or so. But we decided to plant some vegetables on it. Last week, it was harvest time for our okra and we have steamed okra on our dining table for several days now. Steamed okra with shrimp paste cry

I have to admit that the fresh vegetables are more of a help on our healthy diet rather than our budget.

Have a nice day! cool

We actually save off the grocery bill by gardening. We are getting a better return for our efforts every year. We have paid for somethings that came to naught but we keep learning. Healthy diet is a big plus from is as well. I rarely miss time off work for health reasons.
