Now I can't help but wonder which 'sea' that would be. My recollection of the North Sea resorts as a child were fun at the time but if I were to go back there now after becoming accustomed to the Med - oh dear I doubt I would even get my feet wet as it would seem so cold!

i'm used to swimming in the med but i took a dip in the north sea last summer and it was cold...brrrrrrr !!

Cold? My idea of cold is something much different.
It must have been more nearer freezing!

well let's put it this way...if it had been a nudist beach there would have been no chance of embarrassement

I hope to go for a week this year but nothing is yet planned as it depends on the shifts at work. A weekend is planned next month though!

The last time I went was 2 years ago. I was lucky enough to land a job as a baby-sitter for a boy of 3 and I spent two whole weeks with him. Beach in the mornings then he slept in the afternoon and we would go back there in the afternoon. Great fun and I got paid to get a sun tan too!
This year I will get some week-ends off and go with friends I hope and that swimsuit you saw would be something I would choose too - I love shorts!

I think the tank and shorts style is great. If I get a new suit that is what I want.

It was a really cute suit and they make a two piece version as well. I hope I can get away to the beach in Florida if only for the day but I am not sure if I will have an opening in my schedule.

If I could go back in time then I would learn to swim - I do regret not having learnt and I'm too frightened now

I love walking though and I will splash about where it's not too deep and if there are children then I'll join in with their games as they do not go out where it's deep either.
It is so calming at the sea and even just watching the others is fun!

I love the sunset too. And the sunrise. I like to go early in the morning and walk looking for those treasures.

Chimes that was such a poetic description I could actually see the whole scene and the sunset too... and the beach with the tide pools. Lovely.

I'm going to ask the same question again - are you far from the sea?

My home is pretty near to it; around 10-15 minutes walk or 5 minutes by bike and I can reach there. I can feel the sensation too and just by talking about it, I feel like taking the plunge.

Living on an island must be so perfect! Being near enough to the beaches too would be my choice if I ever had one. Here I have almost a two hour drive to the nearest beach and that is a road that goes through many tunnels in the mountains and that puts me off going by road these days. Train is much easier - but it's crowded in the summer

If I walk out my front door and walk about 2 kilometres to the west, I can walk out onto the beach.

The section of island we live on is mostly undiscovered by tourists.

The big beach everyone goes to is crowded and you have to pay in the summer. I found one very similar in size and depth within half an hour of home. It goes for miles, the water is clear and shallow and very few jelly fish! It is concave so it is quite sheltered too.

NOw that the weather is warming up, I'm going to take my doggies for a trot on the sand!

There is a village on the coast here that I saw many years ago. It looks like something you would see on a painting and I said at the time I would love to go there when I retire...

That sounds fun with your children! They must keep you busy too as it would only take a minute or something to happen to them in the water I can imagine you jumping straight into the pool - and if it's cold it takes your breath away!

I had no idea that Asian ladies do not like to be tanned. I guess I just assumed everyone did so I just learnt something new!

jayrene is right, in fact I used to be surprised watching ladies with open skin under sun. I thought that if they are feeling cold, at least they should cover their body so tha it don't become dark. Here in my country, people are advised to cover their body with sunscream lotion to protect their fairness from sun!

Here they cover with creams that block the harmful rays from the sun but allow the skin to become tanned. However toomuch sun can do a lot of damage

While reading that I could see you in the crystal clear water swimming. Very vividly too and I can hear the joy in your words so you really do love the water! I guess you have trophies from your swimming?
