| | I normally catch Arizona and Stanford at 3:00 in the morning. I'm going to see what ESPN has on it. | | | | | | |

| | Not much of a sports fan, but anything that Arizona in is aces with me. I used to live in Arizona. NEver lived in Stanford though... so as far as I'm concerned, may Arizona win... unless Arizona plays Guelph Ontario in something. I live in Guelph. Then I won't know which team to root for. | | | | | | |

| | I watched Game 3 of the Super Regional between Arizona and Stanford last night at around 1:00 AM. It was 3-2 Arizona in the third inning when I turned off the TV and went to bed. I went looking through results to see who won and advanced but couldn't find anything here since this was a West Coast game. The University of Georgia advanced to the NCAA softball World Series for the first time and they're the only school to have advanced so far. The winner of this game would advance also. It was game 3. | | | | | | |

| | So, where are we now? I know Stanford is out. How many teams are left and who is left? | | | |

| | The Super Regionals wind up on ESPN2 today. The teams in so far, Georgia, Alabama, Arizona, Michigan and Arizona State are in. Washington and Georgia Tech are knotted at 1 win apiece, as are Florida and California and UCLA and Missouri. Georgia Tech plays in Atlanta and it's pouring there like it is here. UCLA, 12-time National Champs are having a fit with Missouri. I don't know much about Florida and California, but I know the Golden Bears out of Berkeley (just up the road a spell from Stanford) have a quality program. For some reason the West Coast really has a leg up on softball. My 10-year old niece, a catcher, wants to go to Stanford. My brother has taken her to several Stanford games and she knows and likes all the players. North Georgia, the school I broadcasted games for over the past four years until I moved is heading to the NCAA D2 Super Regionals. | | | |

| | I just noticed that you posted to this discussion in two places. one of them will probably get deleted at some point. I didn't realize so many teams were still in it. I thought we were further along... does your niece watch the collge games? | | | |

| | Yeah... she does. Since she is an only child and my brother and his wife have tons of disposable income she is like the most ridiculous well-rounded child. She plays softball, basketball, soccer, is an 8th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, is taking language courses and is probably right now working on a cure for cancer. She hasn't come out and mentioned any names but since my brother was a catcher she wants to be a catcher too, even though she's got "my" arm to be a pitcher. You know how families have that particular sports gene that seems to pop up around different generations? Well, "my" pitching arm is one of those traits. My son had it, my nephew had it (but chose to play soccer, he's the smart fourth nephew) and my neice has it but chose to catch rather than pitch. She's done the private lessons and is doing her first year of travel ball, but while she's got the gun to pitch... she wants to catch. I guess she likes to accessorize. My brother liked putting on all the gear. I want nothing to do with catching and since I'm lefthanded never had to worry about it. Catchers like to accessorize, pitchers have massive egos because we ARE the center of attention. The game doesn't start until we say so. | | | |
