Why do YOU people watch?

We're beyond the question of whether or not people watch. I think it's more of a natural thing to see someone and immediately form an opinion about them (which is sort of like people watching).
But do you ever really go out and actually just watch people? If so, why? Some people think it's a strange thing to do, so I'm curious about everyone's motives.
For me, personally, I enjoy people watching because it helps me with my writing. I'm finally getting over the culture shock of moving from the northern US to the southern (I didn't understand most of the slang down here at first and stared at someone dumbly the first time they asked for their 'ticket' at Kmart). Now I just like to listen to people interact because it helps me when I go to write some dialogue scenes in my stories. Plus, sometimes they use interesting words or phrases that I incorporate into works, or they just say something that sparks an idea for a new plot.^_^So why do YOU people watch?
