Have you seen what they are doing to young children if accused of being witches?

I had heard of this, and then tonight on the news, I saw what is done in a town in Africa to young children accused of being witches. A preacher says that God tells him which children are "guilty," and for $50.00 he performs an excorcism on them: biting, beating, sometimes killing these innocent children. The families go along with it because they believe God is truly talking to this preacher. The ones who survive are then cast out into the streets to fend for themselves. When the authorities were approached, they told the news reporters that if witchery can be proven, no law has been broken. This is horrifying! I wish something could be done to protect these kids. Question,How did the people of Africa learn to hate Witches? You must remember,a number of area's and Tribes of Africa practiced Voo-Doo,and still do to this day, both in Africa and America, and probably many other parts of the world, which is a form of Witchcraft. True Voo-Doo and Witches do not practice dark magic,True, there can be rogues, but not that many. Untill Christianity was forsed down thier throats by the early priests that were sent to "teach the heathens" christian ideas, they were quite happy with their own gods, you may want to ask yourselves what happened to the Azteks,Druids, and Myan races? So long as old ways are interfered with, and changed"for their own good" there are going to be people to take advantage of them. Yes,it would be great if this could be stopped, but they have been brainwashed, and I do not know if it can ever be undone,I do wish it could. thank you for the great discussion.

I hear and understand the points you have made. I think this bothers me especially much for the children unjustly accused and tortured or killed. So much wrong is done in the name of so many religions. Thank you for your input. Karen

This is insane! How can the authority there sit cool like that! I can never understand this kind of ignorance supported by the authority. We do face similar problems here in our country as well. People are trying hard to educate the ignorant. It's a slow process but its encouraging. I think, poverty, homelessness, lack of food, education all could be dealt with but superstition is a killer and most inane.

You are in India, yes? Superstition IS insane, and so deeply rooted in some cultures that education and enlightenment is indeed a slow process. Have a happy day. Karen

this is horrible. i cant believe that parents believe in that preacher and allowing him to hurt their children. if i am the parents i will never ever allow anyone to hurt my children by any means. the government should do something about it. we never this may be a cult. i dont believe that God too will allow anyone to hurt children, what i believe is God created us as a gift especially the children.

Children are a gift...and I do not know that anything will ever be able to be done about these things. It is deeply ingrained in some "religions" and cultures. God does not do the harm; He is good. It is misguided people who do the harm. Thank you so much for contributing to this discussion. Karen

Hi,you are right. I have no idea about witch. And I don't think believing God is wrong or right. It is a kind of belif. No matter what is the belief,if it can support and courage people to make progrss on a nice dream, it is OK.Otherwise,if it hurts people even deprive of their life,it should be banned. Children are flowers. They are the most beautiful stones in the world. They are pure and innocent . How can the preachers say that they are guilty? Yes, something really should be done. Pity children!

Children are indeed just the most precious people in the world. This story was all over television here in the USA. I could find no mention of it in the MyLot news. The whole situation makes me so upset. Karen

Oh this is just not right!!!! Who in the world is this man that is calling him self a preacher to charge these people $50 to murder their children. To me that is all he is doing. How in the world can they prove withcraft in these children? Do they believe they are possessed by the devil becasue they have a health issue or are not perfect in the eyes of the parents? There has to be a way to put an end to this dear Lord......he will kill all the children befoe it is over. flutterby
