Yuck! Mouse guts in my bathroom for the 2nd time in a week!

I think that is something no one could get used to! It's gross!

But, you're right about it being better to find mouse parts than to have them running around. They always find their way to the kitchen. Even though it's really nasty having to pick up and dispose of the remains, I'm always thinking that there's one less mouse to worry about.

Last year, it was voles my cat was catching and killing. THOSE he'd bring to me, intact. I don't know what the difference is since both mice and voles are about the same size and look almost identical (voles have shorter tails), but he never ate a vole... only mice. I've yet to see a whole dead mouse!

Maybe voles don't taste good.

I don't remember any of my cats actually eating the mice they caught. They played with them. Sometimes it was funny to watch and sometimes not so funny!!
Savvy, I had a mama cat that would bring home live critters like, snakes, bats, mice, alligater lizards, and birds. The one thing they loved to eat were birds. All the other critters were for mama to teach her babies to hunt.

Awwwwwwwwww!!! That's so sweet!!! Your 9-year-old reminds me a bit of myself. I had a deer run into my car once, breaking it's back. It was flopping around in the middle of the road since it couldn't move it's hind parts. I jumped out of my car and got in the road, stopping traffic. I wanted to take it home and "fix" it! (The police came and shot it in the head to put it out of it's misery.)

At least yours leaves them in one spot! I've found dead voles all over the place. My cat never ate a vole, to my knowledge. He'd carry them around for awhile after killing them ("It's mine... I found it!"), then eventually bring them to me wherever I happen to be.

I agree that 4 a.m. is way too early to deal with dead critters! Cats, unfortunately, never listen. After all, they're in charge! LOL

Yeah, I know that cats bring us their "kills" with only good intentions. I read that, because cats in the wild live in packs, they share their kills. That's why our kitties bring us those, umm... "gifts".

I always praise Bean when he does that. However, he's only brought me voles, never a mouse. He eats the mice. I guess voles don't taste good or something. (I'm NOT about to find out!)


I can't imagine finding any partially-devoured critter in my bed! I might find out what it's like one day, but I'm hoping I don't.

Eww!!! I don't think I'd like to see bones and feathers, especially not large ones like geese!

We have geese around here, wild ones. We live on a lake and, until recently when I barracaded the areas where the geese would just walk up onto our property, they'd do just that, eating my veggie plants! Still, there are some areas that I've left open so they can walk around and the cats can get to them.

I'd HATE to see a partially devoured goose, unless it was one I cooked! We have wild critters around here, foxes among them. I've been told that there are even bears around but I haven't seen any yet. Maybe my husband's cat (the really, REALLY mean one) chased them all away!

I live in the UK so we don't get crazy wild animals, but I live in an area where apparently Pumas are around, there are a lot of sightings of large cats. I don't know, my mum thinks she saw something once.

I haven't been spending too much time here myself lately because of the weather being so nice (when it's not raining) but I should be around quite a lot for the next few days. I injured my foot yesterday that has left me unable to walk much for awhile, so I'll just sit back, relax, and spend my time in myLot until it heals.

I've actually found two headless squirrels, one inside the house, the other outside. I'm sure my kitty had something to do with it, too. I've never found the heads, or skulls by now. I haven't a clue what he did with them. I hope I never find them!

I know exactly what you mean! My cat would catch voles but never eat them. He just carried them around with him, dropping them only when he wanted to lie down somewhere, but never dropping them out of his reach. He'd carry them around awhile, then bring them to me when he was tired of them. I think he was hoping they'd keep trying to get away. Cats love those self-propelled "toys"!

Yeah I wouldn't like to find lil bits that would be way gross! That's what I have a hubby for! I don't think I've ever seen them tear one appart just carry them in their mouth and wait for them to move when they put them down and eventually they die. He dropped one near the kids lil people house one time and it crawled in the house. We kept waiting with the cat for it to come out but it didn't. IT died in their play house... EWWW!

Ewwwwww!!! That's worse than my "live mouse story"! My cat was chasing a mouse around the house once when I was taking a bath. Just as I was stepping out of the bathtub, the cat chased the mouse into the bathroom and, of course, it ran right under my foot that was about to come down on the floor. I stepped right on the mouse! I must've jumped 3 feet in the air!

Too late, though. The mouse wobbled about a foot, then collapsed. I had apparently squished it's innards. It took me a long time to get over that! I doubt I'd still be over it if it had run across my face!!! Ewww!!!

Ewww is right. On your face. I like you would have scrubbed my face and then got a cotton swab and used rubbing alcohol or mouth wash as a toner. How long did it take you to get back to sleep after that one?

honestly I think I stayed up the rest of the nite waching the cat nikkie sleep he was tired after bringing me a gift an the shock from the gift kept me up

That's so totally awesome, leenie! I've watched momma cats teaching their babies how to use a litter box and how to eat solid food, but never heard of any teaching them how to hunt! Wow!!!

I hope you're okay! You have me worried now. I hope your eyes are tired because you've been using them a little too much! Rest! I hear cucumber slices are great for refeshing the eyes. I've never tried it but I see it everywhere so there must be something to it.

Hmmm... I have a cucumber in the fridge right now. I think I'll go make a salad, then keep two slices to test how good they are for refreshing the eyes.

My girl cat is in love with a squirrell. It visits her almost daily in the tree outside my kitchen window. They even make sounds back and forth. you are so funny, peed all over the floor huh?????

That has to be right cute!! You really ought to take a picture of the two of them and put it up here. I forgot to mention that we now have a blue jay bird that comes on our porch every morning, he makes several trips too, and steals some cat food and flies off. It's funny to watch him. lol

What a MEAN boyfriend! I know exactly what you mean, though. My youngest son is like that... he loves grossing me out! I told him that one of these days he's going to have to explain to the authorities just WHY his mother collapsed and died right in front of him!

The bluejay story is cute, too. We have a few of them around here and they are quite bold birds! I had no idea they ate cat food, though!

I used to keep a bowl of food on the deck for our cats until I discovered a baby opossum happily gorging himself on it one night. I got my Habitrap out and put some cat food in it, caught the little guy and transported him FAR away before releasing him.

Muscles, your story of the cat and the squirrel is so SWEET!!! Natural enemies being friends... it's not unheard of but it's certainly rare! I've seen things like that a lot over the internet but never knew anyone who has a first-hand story like yours! Awesome!!! I like Cats' suggestion about taking a picture, if you can. I'd LOVE to see it!

Awwwwwww!!! That cat loved you!!! Aren't they sweet and thoughtful, bringing us "gifts" like that? I'd MUCH rather my cat learn how to use the toilet AND flush than to bring me gifts like these!

I know that they think they're doing something wonderful for us when they bring us this "food", but I'd much rather have a less thoughtful kitty, thank you very much!

Shucks! It looks like it's about to storm here... again... and I have 3 fishing lines in the water. They've been there since yesterday. I came into the house to get something when the doorbell rang. Making a long story short, my dogs knocked over a large terra cotta wall hanging, a sun, and it landed on my foot yesterday. It immediately swelled up and I couldn't put weight on it, so ended up spending half the day in the ER. What fun! It's not broken, just badly bruised, so I didn't get a chance to get the lines out of the water yesterday and am still having a lot of trouble walking today. Maybe I should just leave the lines in the water for now? I'd just hate to think I had a nice big lake trout down there waiting for me and not get it!

Guess I should hobble on down there and check. I LOVE trout and would love to have fresh fish for the grill!

I have not had trout for years. I am on a scallop, flounder, talipia and salmon pick these days.
