Why is it if you are following their policy and you return the item within the 30-60-90 days with your reciept they won't give you didly for your item if it was on clearance???
I went to k-mart to finally return this sweater my hubby said I looked like an old lady in cause I finally found the reciept. The clerk said because it was on clearance and out of season they could take it back but they'd only give me .01 for it! I had my reciept! WTH?!?! So now I'm stuck with this sweater that my hubby says I look silly in! I'm better off rummaging it off! What gets me urked is that it was withing the 90 days on the slip!
Then my Aunt bought my 6yo a JUNIORS sz Med sweater on clearance @ 90% off. I asked as I was shopping about what the policy would be. I didn't have the slip but I know she paid cash she doesn't use credit or check. I was told I was out of luck especially with it being a clearance item & she didn't give it to me til over a month after she bought it. What am I to do with this now? It'll be out of style by the time my 6yo is a JR's MED! GRRRR.....
Any of the store policies urk you lately?

No lie it doesn't say that on the reciept! That's true but I don't know that it's worth EBaying though.....

Sorry you're having tough luck. Thankfully you didn't buy the item yourself so it's not a waste of your money. You could try to sell the items to get back part of the money, or give the item to someone who could use them.
I personally have not had an experience like this. Normally, whatever the item costs on the day I return it doesn't matter, I still get back what I paid for it. I can't believe they wouldn't give you that much even though you had a reciept. Did you try to speak to a supervisor? I would have.

Nope I didn't. I had all 3 of my kids with and keeping them within eyeshot & dealing the clerk was plent at the minute.
Acutally I even had a pair of jeans I didn't have the slip for (they can usually look it up via the card you used @ k-mart) & they wouldn't take them back either cause they were clearance too, BUT what am I going to do with a pair of jeans that don't have a button hole!?!?!? So I will have to beg my friend who's a seamstress of sorts to make me a button hole *sigh*

If you have the receipt and you return it within the time frame they say on the receipt you should get your money back or at least a store credit. It doesn't matter if it was last season. Now I do understand why they didn't return the sweater that your aunt bought for your daughter because there was no receipt. I know a lot of stores are like that so you don't buy something at a different store and then return it where it costs more money to buy it. But I'm sorry that you had the receipt and you couldn't return your item. I would definitely talk to the store manager and if they don't honor it I would go to the district manager. Good luck!

That is not at all fair!! Did you go to Corporate and complain? You can do a couple of things with it so it's not a loss. Find a family member who loves it and give it to them for Christmas or at the clearance price. Keep the receipt and donate it to Goodwill and include it on your charitable giving deductions. Donate it to the homeless this fall--again, save the receipt. You can raffle it off as the "hideous frump", give it to one of your kids' teachers.
That's why I pay with credit cards. I pay off the balance every month PLUS I earn a percentage cashback so they are paying me to use the card and I have the protection of challenging a purchase.
I hope you can put it to good use!
