The meaning of Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 25 in 2009). It was formerly known as Decoration Day and it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service.

Good morning and welcome back. I have no Memorial Day stories. My dad was in the service as my uncles, but none of them saw combat.

sad you know, i have an aunt that goes 273 miles every memorial day to our home town to decorate her 4 brothers (my uncles) that all are gone now but all served in wars. but then she also decorates everyone elses in the family that have passed also. she makes a really nice holiday out of her reverence for all. if someone cant go decorate their loved ones grave, they always say "no worry, June will do it while shes there" happy
